The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is looking for 78-year-old Richard Sugai. He was picking with family members when he disappeared Saturday. He was reportedly wearing dark clothing and was prepared for rain but has a medical condition that requires daily medication.

Skamania County ends search for Beaverton mushroom hunter; family issues statement

Skamania County search and rescue crews will no longer actively search for a 78-year-old Beaverton man who was reported missing this month along a forest road north of Carson.

The family issued a statement saying it would never want to give up hope, but “with each passing day we believe we have been transitioning from a mission of rescue to one of recovery.
