Murderer sentenced to almost 80 years in prison

Robert Lee Pry, 30, whom Kitsap County prosecutors accused of killing Hood in an effort to access his bank account, received the 958-month term Monday from Kitsap County Superior Court Judge Jennifer Forbes.

Pry's lengthy criminal history, combined with jurors' finding "aggravating" factors in the case — the victim was vulnerable and endured deliberate cruelty and the suspect showed a lack of remorse — led to a nearly eight decade-long prison term.

Jurors did not convict Robert Lavalle Davis, 47, of being an accomplice to the murder, though they did convict him of identity theft. Davis got about 8 ½ years in prison in the case, according to prosecutors. The third, Arnold Mafnas Cruz, 47, was convicted of rendering criminal assistance and removal or concealment of a body. He received a 12 ½-year sentence, prosecutors said.

Joshua Rodgers Jones, 27, who told investigators he went into Hood's house with Pry, also is accused of first-degree murder. Pry's sister, Shawna Dudley Pry, 31, is charged with being an accomplice to the murder. Both are scheduled for trial Dec. 5.

Judge sentences Hood murder suspect to max

Unmoved by the apology of a man who pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the robbery of 89-year-old Robert Hood, a Kitsap Superior Court judge clarified Monday that state law restricted her from imposing a sentence longer than 37 ½ years.

"Yours is a truly wasted life," Judge Jennifer Forbes told Joshua Rodgers-Jones, 27, before handing down the maximum sentence. "Society will be better off without you and sending you to prison will cause me no loss of sleep."

By pleading guilty Rodgers-Jones avoided the risk of a sentence twice as long as his co-defendant, Robert Lee Pry, who was found guilty at trial and received a nearly 80-year sentence.

Still outstanding is the case of Shawna Dudley-Pry, 31, Robert Pry's sister, who is charged with being an accomplice to Hood's murder. Her trial, the last case in Hood's death, is scheduled for next month.

Sister of man found guilty of murder sentenced to prison

The last of several people charged in connection with the 2015 fatal robbery of an 89-year-old Tracyton man was sentenced to nine years and eight months in prison on Friday.

Shawna Pry, 31, received a 116-month sentence after pleading guilty to being an accomplice to robbery, as well as to rendering criminal assistance, identity theft and possession of stolen property charges as part of a plea agreement. Pry had faced a charge as an accomplice in the 2015 murder of Robert Hood, which was dropped.

Pry made a tearful apology for her actions during a sentencing hearing Friday in Kitsap County Superior Court: "I'm so sorry," she said. "I cannot express the hurt I feel for what happened."
