Heads up this is gonna be a RANT!
Is the sister that introduced these two the same one he attacked, the same one who was given a lie detector test in the case of the other baby? Why would you introduce your abusive brother to a woman with kids?
Is this entire family nuts? I love my children but if my son abused a baby in my home id be in jail for abuse on him. Why would his mother not warn the new girlfriend? I dont get it at all.
If he was assumed to be the one that shook the other baby wouldnt LE be watching him closely and know he was living in a home with 2 small children? I understand they couldnt go up to the mother and say hey we are watching this guy. Why not an anonymous phone call saying get your kids away from this guy.
CPS had to be involved and if mom is out selling plasma chances are shes on state aid why no call from them?
The mother of the shaken baby said she warned people about him. Why wouldnt she talk to the new GF????
So many people could have prevented this!!! This has my blood BOILING!!!
END OF RANT...Wish I could say it made me feel better. Of course this is all just MOO
Rant on.
To hopefully clarify or add to your points.
Yes, the sister he attacked (charges eventually dropped, but no idea why) lived in the same house with him and their mother, and the woman who was the mother of the baby he shook. Presumably same sister that Rebecca stated on camera was the one who introduced them. That introduction though, would have been prior to the baby shaking. Whether or nor she told Rebecca, we only have one side of that, but sister threw her brother under the train right quick the day after this story came out, so who knows if that family told her anything or not.
Meantime his WA court records are accessible as fast as you can update a MySpace page. No secret he was a bad boy. Those are the crowds she ran with.
LE may have been keeping one eye on him after he failed lie detector test, but you had a house of 4 adults. Mom (Cooley) and her husband (Pa Cooley) had equally ugly past with the law, sister and the live-in GF might have as well. Which might explain why no arrest if they had no more than a lie detector test to go on. One would HOPE that the other 3 women in that house would have pointed fingers right at him, but lacking physical evidence, I'm sure they walked away frustrated.
That child was removed from that mother's care, so whoever she is, I'm inclined to think as messed up as all the rest of these convoluted "family" members.
CPS had had him on their radar as well, but won't say WHICH of the at least THREE cases where he has been in a home where a child has been injured or killed that involves. Privacy issues, blah blah.
But he was given joint custody of these children? Judge needs to 'splain that one.

have not seen a whole lot of cases where DSHS gets it right, but they do try sometimes. Tough when everybody is pointing fingers at everybody else. Had my own highly negative experience with DSHS in WA State trying to protect an adult in a nursing home. They shuffled some papers and yawned and went back to whatever else they were or were not doing. Only did that much after I involved an attorney.
Honestly, yes, I think the entire family is indeed nuts. And gives not much more than a rat's a$$ about kids except to get on welfare.
That is MOO until media shows the records. State isn't going to cough those up.
5-1/2 hours to give plasma (uh huh). Had been home 1 hour before 911 was called. Baby deceased at least a couple hours before reaching the hospital. I didn't time from call to EMT to out the door to hospital, but they did not dawdle, despite the fact they knew they had a DOA. And police were in hot pursuit after EMT called back to dispatcher and dispatcher almost lost it. I would have, had I heard something that probably went like "1 yr old patient is nonresponsive and cold and blue, with evidence of extensive bruising" or something to that effect.
To be clear, there was a lot of "traffic" in the 4-6pm window, and many calls from central to LE and/or EMT were covered, so I did not hear precisely what caused reaction from the dispatcher after the initial call for EMT. But there were several with LE following that, and they were very concerned about who was driving to the hospital with with the "other" one and following the ambulance. Why precisely worried, dunno. But not happy about it and concerned on precise whereabouts.
Shame they couldn't lock him up for either of the TWO previous incidents, and that he was running around on felony probation until he killed one.
LE did jump all over this as soon as they had a DOA however. Only consolation in that is he should never be able to do this again.
Beyond belief that so many adults seemingly cared so little until one died. Yes indeed, one person COULD have prevented this. But we only have one person's word that
somebody didn't try. Sometimes people just don't want to listen (been there, done that, but no kids involved). "But he seemed like the perfect guy...". Her older son is currently living with his bio father (draw your own conclusions) or at least was as of yesterday.
DSHS ain't off my hook by any means. Hopefully they will HAVE to answer questions and cough up records in court.
