Sharon went to the local mall for a day of shopping. Her truck was found at the mall but Sharon was nowhere to be found. Her credit cards and bank account were never touched and her cell phone was locked inside of her truck. Sharon also used the first name "Shari".

I am looking for info., other than that found on C.P. or Namus, about Sharon Anderson aka Shari Anderson. Missing since Dec. 2000 from Lake Goodwin but car found at mall in Everett, WA. She was shopping there that day. I am interested in helping get new, fresh ideas and would like info from anyone who knew her or of her that can tell more about her life in terms of:
Hobbies
Clubs and or affiliations
Hangouts
Any association with shelters or veteran organizations
Days prior to disappearance
Any interactions within tribal lands
Thanks

Hello! I just joined websleuths because I've been listening to a lot of missing person podcasts and it reminded me of when Shari went missing. I used to work with her at DSHS and sat right across from her cubicle for a while when we worked together. I recently did a google search and found out that she was never found and the case seems cold now. Did you know her or? I'd like to revive this case. It haunts me that she was never found.

I learned of this case through a YouTube video posted a couple months ago.
These cases where the media and the investigating agency seem to drop the ball are so frustrating to my heart. There are too many.
These entities are supposed to be working for "the people" in matters of crime.
Victims and their families have enough working against them.
(It's even worse now, with DAs across the country working FOR the criminal. But I digress.)
I understand they have to keep some things under wraps.
But there are situations in this case where the public could help.
Was the public asked to come forward if they saw her at McDonald's, Fred Meyer, WalMart?
There's a very easy way to tell if she went to Fred Meyer.
Were the pics picked up?
I understand holding it close to the vest if they know way more and they don't need to reveal these things.
But being cold this long, I don't think so.
I lived in the NW and followed true crime back then, (especially the legend Ann Rule, RIP) and I never heard of this case.
One more thing- I've been wondering lately about the people who go into witness protection.
How are those cases handled?
Do the feds let local pd know?
How many of these cases are that?

Did she have dentures by chance?

can you please post the youtube video link where you saw info about her case please? I have no reason to believe this is a witness protection thing, it feels as though it is much more likely foul play was involved.

It's been awhile so unfortunately I don't remember. I don't have time to dig into it, but if you're curious and have the time, I can tell you it was likely from either "Scary Mysteries," "Merc," or "Criminally Listed." Judging from my post, they would've posted it sometime from Nov. 2022 to Jan. 2023.

I don't recall why I thought it might be witness protection. I may have just had it on my mind at the time. I have wondered if people in those situations ever get reported as missing.

I don't know for sure, but I would imagine authorities would just quietly unlist those folks as missing and mark the case as resolved with no information released. It would be a waste of public money and police resources to continue searches for someone who is accounted for by authorities.

I found the YouTube video. It's on the Merc True Crime channel titled "The Disappearance of Shari Anderson."

I can't post the link because I once posted a YouTube link and I got a warning that it was deleted because it was not considered a reliable source.

This case is so disturbing to me for so many reasons. Wherever you are Shari, I hope you're at peace.

Edit: I found another vid, more recent, on YouTube about her. I just put "Shari Anderson" in the search bar and it came up (as did the Merc channel vid.) I haven't watched this one and I don't know the channel, so I can't speak to its credibility.

From the article quoted above:

"They [Niki and Mary] believe Shari never made it to the mall that day. They think whatever happened to Shari happened before her truck, which appeared to have been detailed, wound up in the parking lot that night."

Not having a vehicle myself, I had to go look that up. According to Rydell Cars, "truck detailing includes a deep clean of your truck’s interior, exterior, engine, and undercarriage."

What criminal, assaulting someone by chance in her truck outside, would have the opportunity to deep clean the victim's vehicle afterwards?

So for me, attention naturally turns to the husband. He was the last to see her, and from him alone comes the story of Sharon's alleged plans for the day. According to the same article, "he took a nap that afternoon [and] he woke up at 5:30," which I find suspiciously convenient. Admittedly, December 2, 2000 was a Saturday, and it's common to relax on weekends.

I understand there's no mention of marital problems, but these don't need to be visible for a crime to occur. He later filed for divorce but, to be fair, maybe this had to do with settling finances and other logistics of being legally married to a missing person.

Again, to be fair, police say they've "got nothing that would say she was a victim of foul play, but nothing to say she wasn't." And I haven't seen Niki or Mary (or anyone for that matter) publicly mention the husband, but I don't know...

Yeah, interesting points. I actually am interested in this case because I worked with Shari at DSHS back in the day. I sat right across from her cubicle actually. Her disappearance and lack of resolution has always bothered me. I'd like to get some renewed attention on this case so that Shari can get some justice. The article isn't wrong about her being a "perfectionist" at least with her work. She was incredibly no nonsense and got her work done with a high degree of focus. For the police to say there was no evidence one way or the other to suggest foul play is absurd. The oddest thing to me is that if the family believes that the last stop was Mervyn's it would be really easy to see if any transactions occurred and where they occurred that day. Pretty easy to start tracing back to when her last transaction/calls were. Also, I certainly hope that whomever found the truck did not touch anything inside the truck because it's a potential crime scene you know? Also curious if the truck ever went through forensic testing.

Yeah I'm also confused by the apparent lack of evidence. But I feel like police already know more than what they're releasing publicly. They just need to be very careful with their words so we have to read between the lines.

So for police not to mention Shari's transactions could be their way of saying one of several things:
• Shari was there but she paid with cash and wasn't seen by anyone or on camera.
• Shari was there but whatever happened to her occurred before she entered any store.
• Shari was never there and her vehicle was staged by someone who can't be named because there's no evidence.

The same might apply to the condition of the vehicle. It "appeared to have been detailed" because:
• Shari was "such a perfectionist" and had recently deep-cleaned her own truck.
• The offender made sure to have little to no contact with the vehicle during the crime.
• The offender used the vehicle in connection with the crime, and afterwards had the time and means to deep-clean it.

Given these possibilities, I obviously lean one way. But without proof, it's just an allegation.

Since you once worked with Shari, have you considered becoming a Verified Insider? That way, anything you can tell us about Shari, or post about her case, does not need to be backed up by mainstream media sources.

I hope that renewed interest in Shari's case will get us closer to whatever happened to her before the 25th anniversary!

I wasn’t aware of the insider thing. I’ll look into that. <modsnip: encourages sleuthing of family/non POI>

Through a freedom of information I asked for the “entire police records / files” related to her case. I don’t know how to tell if they gave me everything or not but it is 495 pages and hardly anything is redacted.
