I see this is your first post AHIPPYGRL,

Welcome!! :blowkiss:

Believe he is at home in Montana. We have heard nothing on the news since around July 9th. There are news articles above in this thread regarding the funeral for Sheryl and the report Steven told the police. Also at the end of some articles, there are comments/postings from people.

I've read them all, and the majority of people posting there are having difficulty believing Steven's story of a hitchhiker shooting his wife.

I look here everyday to see if they find the hitchhiker or arrest the real murderer.

no we have heard nothing
about two weeks ago they did pull in a few of her friends and family
to talk with them and nothing yet

he is back in Montana like i said and wont let Sheryl mom
see the 14 year old so far
if he wasn't guilty why wouldn't he let him see her?
and we are all waiting to hear anything on a arrest too
i asked the same question about the "sketch"

why does the step father have custody
someone please explain for me

God i really hope he isn't having his way with the girl and eliminated his wife for this reason - that would be awful.

Sorry, but I'm on this thread every day. Don't know what "girl" is being discussed. Sheryl left behind two sons from a former husband. That's what I recall. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard anything about a girl or girlfriend.

I was seriously considering either calling the Yakima Sheriff's Office or even sending an email if possible. We have had no updates. I don't know the law in that state, maybe I would get no-where, but I would like to know if they still consider this case active. Any opinions on that? I'm a chicken, but would try...

Family and Friends Remember Shooting Victim

(Older article, but it has a photo of Sheryl)

eta: Maybe someone knows how to make the photo larger. I put it in my picture folders and it's bigger, but don't know how to get it to paste on here.

Hope this photo attachment is acceptable. If I made it any larger, it would have appeared out of focus.

Well, I see in the local paper in T Falls that he is in jail for not registering as a "violent" offender and privacy in communications...wonder what that is related to?

Hi AHIPPYGRL,

Thanks, Do you have a link to the local paper. Are they online?
I'd like to read the article. Or what is the name of the local paper?

It is from the Sanders County Ledger. I don't believe it is online, which is a bummer! It states that he said he wanted to get counseling on his own, which the judge granted. The county attorney said that there were two ways to look at the matter, as a civil matter for treatment or as a forensic commitment as a matter for the criminal case. It is pretty vague. He is supposed to enroll himself in treatment and then he promised he would return after treatment to face the charges. I will post any other updates that I see for all.

Thank you so much AHIPPYGRL,

Do you know what his "violent offender" crime was?

You've been so helpful with all your news.

It doesn't say what it was for. I heard somewhere that he had been in jail for a few years prior to this. I am thinking it must be related to that.

Hope the Yakima Sheriff's Office knows this! It will be 2 months next week since any news stories!

Thanks again AHIPPYGRL

Since many of you were wanting to see the whole article, here it is. Thanks!
Saying he wanted to get counseling on his own, Stephen Harwood was granted both permission and the judge’s blessing to get some help.

Harwood made his initial appearance in District Court Tuesday before Judge Kim Christopher on charges of intimidation, failure to register as a violent offender and privacy in communications.

The defendant was represented by public defender Noel Larivee.

Larrivee told Judge Christopher that his client was prepared to enroll in counseling on his own whether ordered to or not by the court. He asked for an own recognizance release for his client with a promise that he would return after treatment to face the charges.

County Attorney Coleen Magera raised a technical question, of whether or not the defendant could voluntarily seek treatment in a state facility.

Judge Christopher jumped in to say she felt uncomfortable leaving the defendant in the jail when he was ready for counseling and said she would sign an order speeding up the process. “I don’t want to be responsible for his health in jail,”, said the judge.

Magera said there were two ways to look at the matter, as a civil matter for treatment or as a forensic commitment as a matter for the criminal case.

Christopher said she would sign an order for treatment if the County Attorney’s office would prepare one.

I will post any other articles if they come available for all of you!
