GUILTY WA - Six Anderson family members slain in Carnation home, 24 Dec 2007

Dang friends. I literally stumbled across this case yesterday evening. I am pretty aghast. Also surprised there is not much coverage here in Seattle.

I believe the boyfriend, Joe, has already been tried and convicted. Perhaps the interest in the murders has died down by now. I have been following Michelle Anderson's trial to see what kind of defense will be put forth. Damn this trial isn't streamed every day!!!

#CarnationMurders - The def deferred their opening statement. No idea what def case will be..#MicheleAnderson never retracted confession.

True. I can't understand any of this. They have not argued diminished capacity, or being under the influence, nothing that remotely smells like a mitigating factor. What is the defense aiming for?

Despite aggravated murder charges and the premeditation involved in the murder, Anderson will not face the death penalty. She has been uncooperative and now her lawyers are trying for an insanity plea after first trying to be removed from the case. A judge denied their request to be removed.

Thanks Chelly.

It is almost a certainty that juries in WA state will vote against the DP, as was the case in the boyfriend's trial - so it's pretty much a wast of tax payers' dinero for the state to even attempt it. The culture here in the PNW just doesn't jive with capital punishment.

Since the defense deferred its opening statement, we will have to wait to find out what in the world are these people going to claim happened. I can't even.

Our governor has also imposed a moratorium on death penalty being carried out while he is in office. We used to honor death penalty.

Unfortunately only the penalty phase of McEnroe's trial was allowed to be streamed. I watched some of his testimony and he is one bizarre dude.

This, I don't even know what to call her since what I'd like to say is not printable, chick makes me so angry. She confessed to the crime, McEnroe was already convicted, there is no question these 2 did it. She could have done the decent thing and pled guilty and accepted LWOP in order to save the surviving family members and friends the grief of another trial. But no. Instead they have to relive the tragedy all over again because she is a selfish, cold, evil brat. Ugh.

Inorite???? He sounds meekly. Very strange guy. I personally think she was the mastermind of this slaughter. The witch.

I always was under the impression she was--I thought it was her idea

Completely agree. Both equally messed up people and equally culpable, but this one is more of a psycho.

I absolutely agree. All she cared about was getting her money and heaven forbid her parents start charging her rent :boohoo:. A witch indeed.

No chit. Her tent, her car insurance, her utilities...

McEnroe is a manipulative liar, imo. I watched a little of his testimony and he's pretending to be all meek and mild and troubled, but he loses it at one point and lets the mask slip.

Sword and scale did a really good podcast that had a of his testimony too.

Michelle is really bizarre... I think she genuinely has serious mental issues. Not anything that would make her not guilty by reason of insanity - she knew exactly what she was doing and she knew it was wrong, imo. But she must have at least a couple of personality disorders... Her personality is not just disordered, it's sick and twisted! Moo.
