It is seriously frustrating! However, maybe we can take some heart in this. I had a voice message on my phone tonight from the Bellevue Police Department, Sky Metalwala Tipline. They were following up to see if I had a tip because they noticed I called the tipline a couple of weeks ago. I ended up not leaving a message and emailed them instead (as previously posted, they responded to my email). Anyway, all that to say they are following up on everything, even callers that don't leave messages! Also, in speaking with Solomon's attorney last Sunday, I had every reason to believe the police are doing ALL they can. They are no doubt hindered because the boy was missing well before he was reported as such, IMO. At some point, they may have to adjust their approach. They aren't giving up, I know that with certainty (thank you, BPD!)

Also, from what I gathered, Julia is living back in her apartment in Redmond alone. She's not working, I believe she's living on AFDC (welfare). Of course, she has no children in her care, so this is a problem--is, will be, or should be. Sounds like the State is leaving her be for now. She's been known to go out at times and this has been observed. I believe they are keeping close tabs. Hope she leads them to something.

This is just MO, but holed up in that apartment I imagine she leads a very active on-line existance, it would not surprise me at all if she reads these posts!

Let's hope Mother's Day brings about some movement--maybe in her heart, or possibly the Spirit will move her. Or maybe good old 911 will. Something, please! That is my Mother's Day wish.

Chela . . . your post brought hope back to my soul! Bless BPD!!!!! I know now they really are still working this case and following up on any and every lead given to them.

JB would not be able to obtain "welfare" if she has no children in her care . . . the "welfare" payments are only for the children. There used to be a program in Washington called GAU (General Assistance Unemployable) where people could receive about $200 a month and food stamps while applying for Social Security if they have a mental and/or physical disability - however the Governor did away with that program approx a year ago. I suspect JB had to apply for SSI and she would receive approx $630 a month, plus medical coverage if she were approved. Her OCD and previous hospitalizations would support being approved for this but it usually takes at least being denied SSI benefits at least once and then going thru an appeal process. I believe she could effectively argue that her illness is so debilitating that she is disabled.

I am not sure she is in the same apartment - housing vouchers and section 8 housing has been so restricted in the last few years that most people are on a wait list for 3-4 years and must wait until someone dies or becomes no longer eligible for benefits for housing. There are no more housing voucher slots and the only ones available are thru attrition (sic?). If for some reason she was able to secure a housing voucher based upon her income - her rent would be approx. 1/3 of her total monthly income. (but it is highly doubtful she was able to move ahead of all of those people who have waited years).

There was a report from Clay T that JB is living in Redmond and staying with friends (on the Ron & Don show - link is a few pages back).

I am only reporting what I know from working with others with resource referrals. I do not know JB's exact circumstances but I believe she is probably just qualifying for SSI if she applied immediately after Sky went missing.

If we had access to the divorce proceedings she would have to declare her source of income and the amounts - but that is probably sealed from the public.

Sky . . . send us a sign on how to find you little guy - we all want to help you get home.

In one go the very early threads, someone (Rouge? Iirc) speculated that if the brains of people with a certain mental illness look different from the brains of those who don't, that can be taken as evidence that there's a genetic component to the condition. This isn't true...what it would mean is that there is a neural substrate for the disorder. Our behaviors and our brains have a complex interdependence. Our behavior shapes our brains on multiple levels. It is a really beautiful thing IMO. Why I think that this is important to this case is that IMO, based on research I have studied and performed, JB caused some interesting changes to occur in little M'sbrain, and I hope that she gets all the help she needs to deal with that.

Hmmm, I don't recall posting anything about that. I do know that the brains of people with schizophrenia look different than those without but I don't know much more about brain scanning and mental illness than that. Psychotherapy is an art, not a science, and I practice it as an art so I don't delve much into the more scientific end of things.

Anyhow, I'm glad to hear LE is still very actively working on the case. I suspect JB no longer uses the facebook account we've all been monitoring because I think she would have posted something on it by now -- I suspect she knows that we were onto her that she goes online and surfs the internet as a regulating activity when she is feeling highly stressed and that she has not abandoned that behavior....just moved it to another account.

I'm also curious about her possibly applying for SSI. To do so, she would have to admit that she has a major, debilitating mental illness that prevents her from engaging in gainful employment. All we know of JB so far has been that it was VERY important to her to declare that she does not suffer from any mental illness. I wonder if she caved for the sole purpose of getting money -- I still would bet that she does not, to this day, believe she has a mental illness. So, I wonder if she even applied for SSI -- that may have been too much for her, given her denial. She might just be coasting on the generosity of others (i.e. her enablers).

From what I was able to gather last weekend, she did not apply for SSI--I thought the same thing, that she may qualify based on her MH. Apparently, she is getting "welfare" or what I know to be AFDC. BBM: I wouldn't be surprised if she did file for SSI based on a mental illness. It would be a win/win for her. If she did what I think she did to Sky (meaning he's no longer with us) and she has no all but given up on getting MM back. Not a chance that'll happen. She's shown no interest in even having supervised visitation because after all it's all about her and what's the best for her (Julia). So...with the kids out of the picture...it's all about Julia. Julia needs money - free money (from the Gvt). Admit that she has a mental illness - money for life. Not to mention the biggest thing: WHEN Sky is found (if deceased), then she can claim a mental health defense. :banghead:

I mean...Solomon tried to warn the courts, but Julia denied it (which is somewhat normal for people with mental illnesses to do). [My grandma was paranoid schizo, but she denied anything was wrong with her.] So...it can't be Julia's fault that she did whatever with Sky - it's the courts fault for allowing her to have custody of the children knowing her mental capacity (her low GAF score), right?!

This is just me trying to think like Julia and I am thankful that I can't. Although, right now, I'd love to be her friend just so I could do what a real friend should. And, that's tell her that she needs to come clean, repent for what she has done, and bring Sky home where he belongs. AND get her the help she needs. At the end of the day, she needs to realize that this isn't about her - it's all about Sky!

Today is Mother's Day and I pray that your mother will find it in her heart to finally do right by you, sweet little one!! After all, a real mother wouldn't act the way she has. A real mother would be out beating the streets, searching, screaming from the rooftops, and doing whatever was necessary to find her little man. That is, if she didn't already know where you are....because...well...I don't want to think about it today.

SKY - You have a lot of "Mama's" here on WS that just want to see you come home to your daddy and sister who love you immensely!!!

I am wondering how Julia gets money. The AFDC thing doesn't sound right since she has no children. I'm wondering if she could claim having sky as a dependent because he is not officially declared dead. If I remember correctly, SM didnt get custody of sky in court as he did Little Miss M. So technically Julia has custody of Sky and gets benefits that way???

The only government support and housing that I want my tax dollars to go to for supporting her is in a cell at a prison!

I too don't think she is receiving AFDC. I thought Solomon received custody of both children - even without knowing Sky's whereabouts. I hope so anyway. One can't receive assistance for a child that they likely caused to disappear.

I don't even want to let my mind go to what I think she did with him. It breaks my heart!

I just pray that our God will put a stop to the suffering that Julia has placed upon Solomon, MM and their family and friends by allowing SKY to be found soon. NO ONE deserves to be put through this for someone else's selfish satisfaction. She really disgusts me!

Reach out to all who might offer resources and help in bringing Sky home. This little guy deserves the very best and don't let anyone give up on him - he is so innocent and precious. It is tragic to me that all of us (perfect strangers) care more about this sweet boy than his own Mother.

Today I had the honor of hearing Elizabeth Smart speak at a conference in Seattle. She was very polished and articulate, and so young and sweet. I'll do my best to paraphrase. She shared what she considers the best advice her mother ever gave her. When she was rescued, her mother told her not to waste a precious minute more of her life on the man that abducted her. He may have had 9 months, but not to give him any more thought--take your life back--the best revenge would be to live a good life. While she regrets all that happened, she acknowledged that she is at an entirely different place in her life right now because of it--a place of strength and she is doing good things. She acknowledged it was citizens that were paying attention, recognized her and called the police. She gave thanks to people like us It was very inspiring.

I have heard Elizabeth speak as well. I am amazed at her courage and poise. Being from Utah, her case touched my heart deeply. I think that her strong family helped to make her remarkable recovery. Thanks for sharing your experience!!
