Hi I’m new here and have read a few different threads over different situations in my town of Yakima, WA but I haven’t seen anyone say anything about Sofia Ramirez?

She was killed at a party a few years ago and the police originally claimed she shot herself but there are so many confusing and weird scenarios about it all.

Some of those being the gun was one of like 20 something stolen guns from a local store BiMart and a bunch of kids just dropped her body off in a parking lot in the middle of the night and no one can remember exactly what happened.

Just curious if there were others out there wanting to look into this more in depth and where to post it?

Thanks so much! Some additional links I’ve found are listed below.

There is a small statue/monument in the parking lot where she was found that used to have a bunch of signs pleading for further investigation which where recently taken down. I can take a picture if anyone is interested. As well as a few graffiti marks on the corner of the street that said “RIP SOFIA” but those were just covered up, but as far as these articles and those markings I haven’t heard much more about the case.

I’d like to mention I didn’t know her or anyone involved, this case has always just grabbed my attention with the way it was handled.

Authorities call the death of 18-year-old Sofia Ramirez an accident. Her family says that's not the full story

YPD: Teen accidentally shot herself at party with stolen gun

Telling her story: Sofia Ramirez was 18 when she died of a gunshot wound at a Yakima party. Police concluded she accidentally shot herself. Now they’re not so sure.

This doesn't make sense. The police say that the only crime would be the illegal transport of a body. The gun was stolen from a store, why couldn't the person who introduced the gun into the party be charged with at the very least possession of stolen property? Also the police reports indicate that there was no injury to her hand after shooting the gun. Why would there be? I've never had injuries from shooting a gun. I don't know of anyone who has injured/bruised their hand from shooting a pistol.

I think they were saying there would be injury or at least blood spatter since the bullet was hollow point and the gun was placed directly against her head. The hollow point bullets apparently explode on impact? IMO that was why they expected some sort of “proof” on her left hand.

There is usually no injury to the hand when shooting hollow points. The bullet doesn't actually explode, it mushrooms. The only physical proof would be residue, and that is dependent upon air flow. Spatter would go in the same direction as the bullet because the bullet usually leaves a small hole the diameter of the bullet itself, then the mushrooming of the bullet results in the huge exit wound. Has an autopsy report been released? That would be helpful since every shooting wound will be different due to the individual gun and the individual bullet and jacket. I still don't understand why there were no arrests when they had a stolen gun. It should be considered negligent homicide at the very least especially since there were alcohol and drugs allegedly at the party. IIRC.

One of the above articles has very detailed information from the autopsy. I think it’s probably the original link but I know one of them had quotes from the coroner, etc.

I just found it, and it looks like an accident. Did they do a rape kit? The gun was stolen, the householder was ineligible to have a gun so why didn't the police do anything about that? There were crimes committed, probably not homicide, but still other crimes. Underage drinking, stolen weapon, and illegal transport of a body. The party was hosted by a felon, so why wasn't he charged with anything?
