TACOMA, Wash. – A body was found in a wooded area near the Scott Pierson Trail in Tacoma Saturday night, according to police.

The decomposed body was found by a person walking in the area, the Tacoma Police Department said.

The Medical Examiner has taken possession of the body.

TACOMA, Wash. -- The body of a decomposing person was discovered in the wooded area of a Tacoma neighborhood Saturday.

Police got reports of the body near South 19th Street and South Stevens Street. Someone from the Pierce County Medical Examiner's office came out early Sunday to figure out what happened.

Authorities didn’t say if they consider this a suspicious death or how long the person was there before they were found.
