Resolved WA - Tacoma, Skeletal Remains Above Schuster Pwy, May 2018 - Name withheld

Gardener1850, you're amazing and very much appreciated! TY for always sharing your sleuthing results with us. 'Above and beyond' that's the nickname I'm giving you!

ETA- after reading your awesomely detailed post about these pant sizes I went on to read about the UID having been identified as a 40-yo male. Struck me as odd that he'd be wearing size 16 junior pants. Heroin addiction could have made him extremely tiny but junior size clothing?

HaHa! Good catch. I was thinking maybe this was trans person and that is why the name was withheld but, nope. We are still trying to identify this woman. Sorry about the confusion of posting the wrong article!

ETA: Wait I take that back about it definitely being a woman. NAMUS for the UID says sex is "unsure": The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

And since NAMUS is still up then he or she is still unidentified. :(

Oh my gosh you are right Yaya! These must be separate cases. I just saw the street Schuster Parkway and 2018 and assumed they were the same without looking at the months that closely. So TWO people were found near Schuster Parkway less than a month apart. Disregard the above article about being identified as a man then...

First Gardener, stop with the blushing face. My goodness your work is awesome and you're entitled to ONE mistake per year. This is the one though, so be careful. haha Seriously, don't be embarrassed. Your "mistake" may have shed new light on both of these cases. Put on your face a HUGE SMILE! :D

EBM-spelling.

Vanished: Search for 5 women missing in Tacoma includes possibility of serial predator

The article above was posted Nov. 29,2017. It lists several women who have gone missing in the Tacoma, WA area. A couple of profiles stood out to me as a potential match to the remains found in May 2018. I wish we knew how long the ME thinks the remains were there before discovery. Debra Honey's case particularly stood out given her size and the fact that she had young children she had been caring for prior to her 17-yo daughter taking them away from her. Seems possible that she might have shared clothing with one of the kids who could have worn junior sizes. She went missing in 2002 only 7 minutes away from where the remains were located. Seven minutes--purchased drugs, left to go to a more private place to use then accidentally od'd? Just wondering "out loud" and posting this info. for future reference.

BBM -

I hadn't seen the NamUs profile and here's what I found which tells me this is most likely not the remains of Ms. Honey who went missing in 2002.

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

Joseph Paul Claussen was 14-YO in Feb. 2018 when he ran away from his home about an hour away (51 mins.) in Seabeck, WA. He's described as 5'4" weighing 100 lbs. The missing poster shown at the FB link above gives his height as 5'5" and weight as 100-110 lbs. His described size seems as if he could fit into a size 16+ junior pant, albeit the jeans may have been a bit baggy. There is no clothing description given for Joseph nor is there any mention of him having a set of keys in his possession. I don't think he would have been old enough to qualify for a driver's license either. However he could have taken a set of keys and/or stolen a vehicle as he left the area of Seabeck or along his route to Tacoma. At 14-YO I certainly knew how to drive a vehicle, but at the time most of my driving was done on a riding mower. :D Haha I suppose if desperate enough to leave home I could have driven an hour away in an automobile.

This UID's partial remains were "Not recognizable - Partial remains with soft tissues". February 2018 - May 2018, depending on when the UID perished, would be time enough for a body to be in an "advanced state of decomposition" but not yet skeletal, I think. The title of this thread reads "skeletal" but I haven't found any reference to that in NamUs or the two MSM articles related to this case. Could it be the "skeletal" description refers to the body of the 40-YO man located nearby on Feb. 11, 2018? That's the article that was linked in error above.

Here's this UID's description from one of the two articles posted regarding this case:

Human remains found in wooded area of Tacoma
the body’s advanced state of decomposition made an immediate determination of gender, age and race impossible.

Your thoughts/comments are appreciated as I'm considering reporting these cases as a potential match. TIA!

Wow, I will be interested in how this plays out, having driven by often on the way to Ruston. I can see it being a convenient dump site for a city predator - or an area where many camp, and ODs of one type or other could occur. It’s very sad. It’s a rather lovely area to see as you drive along Tacoma’s shoreline - quite a scenic stretch within a city. I never thought about it hiding such tragedy.
