Thank you for this. As another local person who has heard rumors over the years, I’m leaning towards one of the comments being the answer. I hope he’s safe and well somewhere.

It is so frustrating when listening to the above, how the information have or not been followed up in time or not been shared. And even more, not even today shared in more details as they may have helped to build some better timeline or identify the gaps to work on. Quite frustrating...

Why would Tyler travel to Shelton to commit suicide. Is the steel bridge know for suicide jumpers. Most likely Tyler was planning to meet someone in Shelton but meeting never took place or something went wrong Tyler become despondent and jumped off bridge but I think his body would have been found. Is Shelton known as a stopping place for teenage runaways.

The man who picked-up Tyler was he ever question by LE or did he give information only to the Family. According to what I have read I don't believe the man drove him to Shelton but dropped him off nearby so did Tyler walk rest of the way there or did he hitch-hike there. Someone else should have seen him since it was early morning hours and to see a 16yo at that time would looked a bit strange or least to me it would have. Why Shelton. Tyler's ultimate destination was the Olympic National Park but I believe there is a more direct route there from the town Mukilteo so something isn't quite adding up.

Tyler wanted to travel to ONP and this is where Jacob Gray went missing Last April. I hope both of these cases will be resolved in the near future.
I know it’s been years but yes, the High Steel Bridge is known for suicides. There are many cases where a persons vehicle or belongings were found their when they disappeared. Kevin Lenting, Gavin Lee, John Johnson, Brandon Adams went missing in the same mountains. It’s rumored missing Shawn Poulino was thrown off the bridge. I had a coworker take her life there. A soldier died on the trails near it. A SAR member was almost killed in a recovery mission.

The High Steele Bridge is the tallest railroad bridge in the United States. When you hit the bottom there wouldn’t be much left sadly. Not meaning to be morbid but it’s the truth. When I was a teenager we threw pumpkins, a typewriter and bowling balls off the bridge. They all basically disintegrated. The bridge is over the Skokomish River so any remains that are left get swept away. It’s not a safe area for any sort of recovery. Mason County has used drones but have never found anything substantial of any human remains. There is a log jam down the river that has been said by a SORT team member to have multiple human remains but it is so unstable and unreachable on foot they can’t do anything. There is one ‘unidentified’ person, partial skeletal remains that were recovered in 2020. No match at this time.

Do a public record request on Tyler in Mason Co. When they found his backpack UNDER the bridge, they used scent dogs who picked up his scent there.

I highly suspect he jumped.

@NancyDrewCrew
Your post is very very sad.
People do sometimes leave a backpack behind, I suspect for their family's sake. It's really tragic, though.
