Glad you found it! I knew there was more but didn't see it in search results; had to run out for diapers

The hotel guest info. was written by "Lyle" after all.

"Registration name & address filled out by "Lyle"
He arrived by bus, possibly one that came from Port Angeles (south), but a bus came up from Aberdeen (northbound) and arrived about the same time. Neither driver was sure if he was on their bus. He arrived with no luggage, and there was no luggage, clothing, etc. in the motel dumpster.
He may have come from Canada, as the clerk recalled that he had "a slight Canadian accent". The fact he wrote the word "suicide" on a piece of paper found in the trash leads authorities to believe he wrote a letter home, telling someone of his intentions, that he was going to disappear, so they aren't looking for him. He may have been dying, or suffered from depression, as he lost a lot of weight, although nothing was found at the autopsy.
There were no indications that he ever wore a wedding ring.
Fingerprints were sent to FBI and RCMP with negative results.
Reviewing the posts by CCM I was reminded of the fact that Lyle's handwriting struck him as that of someone in the medical profession. I totally agree after seeing the handwriting samples again.
Reminds me a lot of my dad's writing (physician) and a little bit of my own (nurse practitioner). I saw a lot of charting before EMRs came about and it really does look like medical or technical person script to me.
2) it was published in 1987, so our lyle is probably too old to have read it in high school, and also the subject matter and depth of the book (imo it's a book for people who like reading snobby books) is such that i'd have a hard time believing any high school teacher would teach it.
(snipped for focus)
Medical student who couldn't handle the stress?
Resident who made a mistake that cost someone their life? (Remorse)
o.k. I looked at every profile with a picture, and no Lyle. https://secure.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/missing-disparus/results-resultats.jsf?q=MPA#tp
HOWEVER, I sure did see lots of folks who could have been relatives of his. In particular, I was quite interested in people from Sioux Lookout, ON.
I am more convinced than ever that he has Native ethnicity, and either came from, or has relatives from the eastern Canadian area such as Ontario or Quebec.
The problem with Martin is the missing/broken teeth :/
IIRC from memory; scars also didn't match up. He was reported after Lyle was found.
