I'm not sure if it's Lyle she saw. No date yet and she said he was thin, fit into his clothes. Sounds like he dressed like Lyle, but so do a lot of men. Hoping she replies with a date soon, I just asked again because she talks about bringing her son to a hospital and seeing him on the train so she should be able to recall what year her son was sick.

I am waiting patiently ...or impatiently knowing me... for her response! May not be him but anything anyone remembers about Lyle is exciting when everything is so limited.

Military makes the most sense or his family was because he moved around a lot unless that particular chemical compound makes up 3/4ths the US naturally which it could but I am thinking he maybe came from a military background. Stationed in different areas of the country. JMO.

Isotope results but typically military families have to be transferred various places in the US and abroad. He might be from a military family, also with how persnickety he was about his dress and grooming also a sign of someone with military background or upbringing, or service. Traveling light, and used to walking. If not military maybe upbringing, maybe had disappointed someone and became transient, and then maybe the person in the room with him took his wallet, and backpack and tried to talk him out of it and maybe realized he was going to do it or it was a result of. And they wanted to respect him, by not coming forward.

The military idea intrigues me. I was serving in the marine corps when the 9/11 attacks happened. We were all very shocked and numb at the idea of going to war. A few people in my command went UA (unauthorized absence, AWOL for other branches) but eventually returned and faced their consequences.

I'd like to look at Lyle's PM photos again and see if he has a haircut that matches military regs. Basically you need a 0-3" cut from bottom to top. So if his hair was longer than 3" on top it could be unlikely that he went UA after the attacks, but also men's hair can grow rather quickly if he typically wore it longer.
The PM pics make me sad and I've been really depressed lately for other reasons, so it may take some convincing on my end to look at them.

The other problem is that I'd wonder how we would obtain a list of people who went UA or AWOL around that time.

I am not suggesting he went AWOL or UA, I am meaning maybe he was prior military or from a military upbringing. But the AWOL scenario should be explored too. I would think though that we would have heard about it. Maybe classified info or only certain people are allowed access to that info. Could explain pacing. I do know of a former military man who came home to visit his parets on leave then never returned but went to a National Park and ended his life either willingly or not, i.e. injured himself so badly he knew he would not be able to survive. They found him about a year or two later, from a hiker. Very sad, so the possibilities are endless. I wonder to if maybe the weight loss was due to some kind of illness. The manner of death is very similar to RWs, and so I have always wondered pre RW if Lyle had some type of illness, that caused rapid weight loss and caused him to take extreme measures. Do not look at the PMs save yourself the pain. One of us can do it.

In the compiled casesfile made by Coldcaseman totaly underneath this thread there is a lot of info, also from autopsy. They did not find any illness. I think you mean because of his neathness and discipline he is from a millitary familie and not particullary a militairy man himself?

I hope you feel better soon (not because for looking at PM pictures) I don't know the meaning of UA. Unautorized Absence or something like that?

The clothing thing could also come into play. If he rolled out and only had his uniform or something that may ID him as a service member, he could have grabbed those clothes from anywhere.

People go AWOL all the time so it doesn't always go public. After 30 days they are considered a deserter.

Also, thank you for the last part. I would love if someone else looked at his pics. Would save me some sadz! ❤️

Yes, UA means Unauthorized Absence. And thank you, this time of year always gives me depression and we have been dealing with a lot of loss in our family. The support here is wonderful.

I can not help you to deal with your family losses, sad to hear, but maybe light therapy and vitamine D could help.

I'm getting there. The light and vitamin D definitely is something I try to supplement in the winter. This year I am needing meds and counseling, but I'm hanging in there!

Do not look at the pm pics at this time, imo.
Sorry you are feeling so blue right now, remember, things can change and perception of things can change, wishing you warm positive thoughts till you get around that corner!

I have 4 beautiful kids and a wonderful husband who are my lifeboat. Who knows where I'd be without them, but they always get me thru the lower days.
