WA WA - Wallace Guidroz, 2, Tacoma, 10 Jan 1983

Charges could be coming in 1983 Tacoma missing boy case

[snip]

Guidroz is headed for trial later this year in Louisiana.

A spokesperson for the Tacoma Police department said he believes Guidroz will be sent to Tacoma to face murder charges.

Pierce County Prosecutor Mark Lindquist said it’s too early to say if Guidroz will be charged.

Lindquist told KING 5 News the case is still pending and he will not make a decision on charges until Guidroz’s Louisiana case is wrapped up.

I have to say this is one case I never thought dad was involved. His kidnapping story seemed pretty believable esp when that other woman came forward claiming her 2 kids were the victims of an attempted abduction in the same area. Poor Wallace.

Stanley Guidroz, 57, is charged with manslaughter in the first degree in the death of his 3-year-old son Wallace...

Last year, Stanley Guidroz was arrested in Louisiana for the murder of his wife, a woman who was not Wallace s mother. A Tacoma police detective went to Louisiana to interview Guidroz about the 1983 case.

The Prosecutor's office said after providing several more versions of his original story, Guidroz admitted to killing Wallace, that after the two went fishing, he took Wallace home to feed him. Wallace was fussing in his high chair, and Guidroz "just lost it."

Stanley Guidroz returned to Pierce County on Wednesday after more than three decades away to plead not guilty to killing his 3-year-old son...

Guidroz said the boy was acting fussy in his high chair and Guidroz backhanded him, according to charging papers. Wallace fell to the floor, hit his head and died, Guidroz contended.

The revelation sparked a search in 2011 with cadaver dogs for Wallace’s remains along Tacoma’s waterfront, but they were never found. Forensic anthropologists believe Wallace’s remains are unlikely to be found because of the soil, moisture and the boy’s age.

If I heard this story today I would definitely agree, but this was 1980... A time when men were much less hands-on with their children in general and people were much more relaxed about losing their children from their view.

In short, I find it plausible. The boy strikes up a conversation, the kids are having fun, the girl's mom is watching them, the girl's dad lures Stanley under some pretext: "Hey, why don't I show you my favorite fishing spot? It's right across the street." side of the hill." - Stanley thinks he'll be back in a couple of minutes, but the guy offers him a beer and suddenly 2 minutes have turned into 20... All in all, it's a very clever kidnapping plot that doesn't require much advance planning, just a Probably marks and a little luck.

Now, of course, we have no way of knowing if that's what happened, and Stanley is clearly a good suspect, but none of that obviously screams a lie to me...
rest in peace
