MOSES LAKE - Family of Yanira Cedillos are frantic after she didn’t return to her own birthday celebration at Papa’s Casino in Moses Lake on Thursday night.

Yanira Cedillos was last seen Thursday night, celebrating her birthday at Papa’s. Police say she was seen leaving the business with her ex-boyfriend and she has not been heard from since.

Her family reported her missing the next morning.

Capt. Dave Sands said Tuesday detectives are working to obtain video to find out where Cedillos went after Papa’s. Every person contacted by detectives regarding the case have been cooperative, Sands said.

“This case is the priority for our investigations unit,” Sands said.

Anyone with information on Cedillos’ whereabouts is asked to call Moses Lake police at 509-762-1160.

The 30-year-old Moses Lake woman was celebrating with friends and co-workers sometime between 8 p.m. and midnight, according to her sister, Lanny Abundiz.

Yanira’s sister says an abusive ex-boyfriend with a history of domestic violence had been repeatedly trying to communicate with her to the tune of dozens of phone calls and countless texts. Lanny says Yanira had a restraining order filed against Juan Gastilum, who also goes by the name of ‘Johnny Trujio,’ after he allegedly struck her some time ago.

Boyfriend arrested, charged with second degree murder and second degree rape.

HERMISTON, Ore. - Police in Oregon have arrested the ex-boyfriend of a Moses Lake woman who went missing last week after investigators found evidence she had been killed inside her Moses Lake apartment.

Juan Ismael Gastelum, 27, was arrested at his home in Hermiston, Ore. and booked into jail Wednesday evening after a nationwide arrest warrant was issued on Wednesday in Grant County in connection to the disappearance of Yaniro Cedillos. Gastelum is charged with second-degree murder and second-degree rape, according to Moses Lake police.

The interviews included two with Moses Lake detectives and one with Hermiston police. Investigators say Gastelum told three versions of what happened the night Cedillos disappeared, and all three were inconsistent with evidence obtained by police.
