Circumstances of Disappearance:
Weston was last seen in Mount Rainier National Park on August 11, 2005. He dropped a friend off in Ashford for a climbing trip and was scheduled to pick her up at a prearranged location the following day. He never arrived and has never been heard from again.

Weston is an expert hiker and outdoorsman and had been hiking in the area for about seven weeks at the time. His camp was located at Snow Lake Campsite, and his vehicle was found at the Comet Falls trailhead. It appeared he had been hiking alone the day he disappeared. Despite extensive searches conducted, Weston has never been located. His whereabouts remain unknown.

What a loss. Interesting that his father found his gear while seeking a place to mark a memorial.

From the obit:
As a youngster with a paper route, he showed the determination and energy that would one day fuel his ambition to go to MIT and to work in field of aeronautics. He was a "man of many talents and he used his talents to the max. He was 'Mr. Reliable,'" his father said.
