June 26 - Whall’s arrest. Why did you not mention that you were with Barry on April 18/19. “It was none of their business my private life,” he said. “No one had the right to know.”

16m

Whall also said being caught having outdoor sex with a man would harm his business. But he later told police because “I don’t think I had a choice”.

16m

“Did you shoot Gerald Corrigan?” “No I did not?” He says.

14m

Cross examination James Tilsbury - acting for Gavin Jones. He asks Whall about their relationship. He agrees they both had their own lives to lead. He says he was a friend but “not a close friend”

13m

Gavin Jones was “getting on his nerves” coming round, Whall said.

12m

Jones had a bad accident damaging his spine Whall said and a traumatic head injury and he helped him out. Whall agreed he would forget things and get “muddled up”.

9m

Whall agreed he never took Gavin Jones late at night to Gof Du, the latest would possibly be 5pm.

9m

Short break.

Trial restarting. Cross examination by Peter Rouch.

10m

April 17 evening. Whall agrees he parked his car at Gof Du and walked into a field in front and into an area with bushes outside the house.

7m

Mr Rouch says you were in the field in front of Gof Du “Yes”.

6m

He agrees he went into the field in front of Gof Du when he went to have his sexual encounter with Mr Williams.

5m

“You know crossbows” “Yes”. “You have bought two of them and fired many bolts” “Yes”.

3m

“I may have fired broadheads” says Whall. Mr Rouch says he must have. “And you know the damage a broadhead can do” “Yes I have seen the videos”.

2m

He has seen the damage done from anything from a chicken to a bear. “The damage is catastrophic” “Yes”

2m

“It would do severe damage” an agrees it could kill them.

1m

Mr Rouch “In that field there was a killer that night” “Whoeever killed Mr Corrigan must have been in a position to shoot him when he was at the Sky dish” “I presume so yes.”

1m

“The killer must have know where to go to kill Mr Corrigan” “You know as much as I do”.

38s

They would want to know before where the front door was, where Mr Corrigan was? “It depends who the killer was. I don’t know how the killer would work.”

7m

“You’re asking me about somebody I have never met.” “I don’t know who the killer is.” Says Whall.

5m

Mr Rouch says the killer selected an unusual weapon? “I don’t know the killer.” He knew who to 🤬🤬🤬🤬 it and aim and fire it and have access to 20 inch bolts with orange and white fletchings and broadheads “I presume so yes”.

4m

He would have to have been in the field in the early hours near Gof Du? Says Mr Rouch.

4m

“You were there on the 17th” “Yes” he denies knowing the layout of Gof Du, but knows where the rocks and bushes were around it.

3m

Whall confirms having an interest in crossbows and how to 🤬🤬🤬🤬 and load one. “Yes that’s correct”

1m

You knew how to aim and fire a crossbow and had access to 20 inch bolts - “yes” and had access green broadheads and were in the vicinity when Mr Corrigan was shot. “I was on my way back to my car by then.”

“Either you’re the killer or a complete stranger was the killer, if it wasn’t you,”

2m

It means there were two men in that field that night - two strangers - both having an interest in crossbows, loading them and having access to bolts with orange and white fletchings and green broadheads, says Mr Rouch.

1m

Whall said he can’t comment on it and can only account for his actions.

Barry Williams is revisited. He is asked about the on off relationship. “Is he a good person on who you can rely on?” “For certain things yes.”

8m

Would he lie for you? “No not on something this serious.” Why wouldn’t Barry Williams tell us about the sexual encounter. “Maybe he’s scared. It’s a big thing.” “He’s going to be a father in five weeks. I can’t account for Barry.”

6m

Whall is not sure if he’s bisexual. “I haven’t slept with another man since I was 16.” There was a lot going on then. He’s been married since and had children.

3m

It just so happened that you and Mr Williams decided to have a sexual encounter on April 18/19. “Yes, I was thinking of ringing him the night before.” He agrees he didn’t call him.

1m

This was the first time he had decided to take Mr Williams out at night. “Yes” but it was because he knew Mr Williams partner was working.

Why did you want to go outdoors with Mr WIlliams when the house was empty? Whall said they had always gone outside, he didn’t know what time Emma was coming back and he “didn’t want to be disrespectful.”

1m

There’s a lot of places and fields around Garddefa? “I wouldn’t want to bump into a neighbour” says Whall.

Richard Wyn Lewis is currently under investigation in respect of fraud relating to Mr Corrigan and Marie Bailey.
This is good news. He obviously went too far fleecing pensioners out of their life savings. Nasty piece of work. Imo.

I’ll be covering the crossbow murder trial of Gerald Corrigan today from Mold Crown Court.

32m

Murder accused Terence Whall is continuing his cross-examination by Peter Rouch for the prosecution. Jury is back in.

30m

Whall is asked about the first crossbow, He bought it online - it was new and after August and November and paid for by partner’s bank card. You can’t by those on Amazon he said.

29m

That was the only “proper crossbow” he owned before ordering the Excalibur in April. He sold the first one to a stranger towards the end of January.

26m

A man turned up at Whall’s home to buy a caravan. The next day another stranger turned up, asking about his van but ended up buying his crossbow. “Yes” he confirms. But Whall says they may have been initially “snooping around”.

25m

Mr Rouch says “its quite a coincidence” as the house is out the way. “It may or may not be whether it is or isn’t” Whall said.

19m

Mr Rouch said Whall put a number of orders in for bolts and broadheads later in the year around October 2018. But he didn’t have a crossbow why? Whall said he was intending to buy a crossbow and wanted something to fire when it arrived.

16m

Mr Rouch suggested he had a crossbow throughout the time he said he didn’t. The first one “the clumsy one that couldn’t shoot straight.” Mr Rouch says puncture wounds on a punch bag show “pretty good grouping”.

@DPWrexNews

·
14m

Whall says there are a lot of holes on the bag but four that appear close together. He says Mr Rouch is assuming they were done at the same time “It’s just a wide group of holes with no pattern”.

13m

Mr Rouch suggests the punch bag shows it was a pretty accurate crossbow. Whall disagrees and says there is nothing to suggest that. “It’s just a loud of holes in a bag.” “There was nothing to suggest the holes were done in groups” “All I se is a bunch of holes in a bag.”

11m

Whall said he knew Mr Corrigan had been murdered and confirms Gavin Jones spoke to him about it after and he read it in the papers. He denies knowing that Mr Corrigan lived at Gof Du before.

7m

Whall says he did not know that Mr Corrigan lived at the house when he drove close by on April 17. He said when police asked him about his whereabouts on April 17 and 18 and didn’t say anything about it, it was because it “was his private business”.

6m

When asked about April 17 he confirmed he told police he was “in all night” “You wanted to tell them lies” said Mr Rouch. “I didn’t want them to know” says Whall.

3m

Mr Rouch said it was not truthful “he couldn’t even walk” because his knee “was really bad” “I was struggling to walk,” he said. “You walked the whole way up the coastal path to Gof Du,” said Mr Rouch. “Yes - but I was struggling.”

2m

Mr Rouch said he was painting a completely false picture to the police. “No” he says.

1m

Whall confirmed it was a “shock” to find out it was the same house he had driven near to where, Mr Corrigan was shot.

Whall says to police he had only been to Gof Du with Gavin Jones. Mr Rouch says that’s a fiction. “I didn’t want to tell them about Barry.” “They are not entitled to my personal life” but he agrees that police are allowed to ask questions to investigate a murder.

51s

Whall said it was a matter of seconds when he took Gavin Jones to Gof Du to look for Richard Wyn Lewis to turn round and leave. He may have taken him there when it was fairly close to the murder “may have been a month or so.”

April 17. Whall’s partner is away. “I wanted to get out the house at that time and think”. He drove to Gof Du he says. “I wasn’t intending on going to the house, I was intending to go to the cliff.” He said he thought it was an empty property.

14m

“There’s lots of places on Anglesey you can drive to” why there? “It was a quick walk over to the cliff.” He said he wanted to meditate. “My head was very messed up that week.”

13m

Whall said it was just a few minutes walk from Gof Du to the cliff.

11m

When he saw a white car at Gof Du he thought somebody had come back. “You were parked there 23 minutes outside the home of strangers”. “That’s why I didn’t stay there,” Whall said. “I was parked right by the hedge” to walk to the rocks.

11m

Whall confirmed he walked the length of the field to the coastal path.

3m

Whall said he did meditate on April 17 to clear his mind on the cliff. He was sitting down and it didn’t affect his bad knee.

2m

Whall said he went along the end of a hedge or fence skirting the field to Gof Du.

He went back to the rocks and then returned to his vehicel. Whall “didn’t want to leave his car” “didn’t trust leaving his car at that property.”

2h

It was dark. Did you notice a light coming from the living room from Gof Du? “No. I wasn’t paying attention to the house,” says Whall.

2h

When did it strike you that “this was a good place for mutual masturbation?” There was a house there. Whall said he “respected the fact there was a car” and that’s why they went to the beach.

2h

Whall says he goes back to the Land Rover and drove down to Porthdafarch Beach.

2h

April 17 telematics from Land Rover, Whall claims it shows “he wasn’t exactly sneaking around.”

2h

Land Rover. April 17 Mr Rouch says telematics shows he drove away just after two house lights come on at Gof Du shortly after 10pm. “Coincidence” says Mr Rouch. Whall said he wouldn’t have seen the lights.

2h

Why did you got to Porthdafarch Beach” “To meditate” You never once mentioned meditation when you spoke to the police? “No”.

1h

Whall said he went through a gate into the field near Gof Du “very briefly”. “I was just thinking about Barry and I and whether we could go there.” But then went back to the rocks.

1h

Why did you chose to engage in sexual activity near a house when there was so much land around. “There was nowhere that was as closed in,“ says Whall, he also said he thought the house was empty.

1h

He told police he was looking to see if he could see a way to get back to a secluded place in the field near Gof Du, to go with Barry.

By end of April 17 you knew about access to the field and access to Gof Du. Your were scoping the house out? “No”.

1h

Trial adjourned for lunch.

14m

April 18 2019: police interview. Whall says in the evening, he didn’t go out and was waiting to see if he needed to pick his partner up from the airport. Says he was in bed when they got back. He says he was at home.

13m

Did you use the vehicle - not that he can remember. Mr Rouch says they were “deliberate lies to the police”. Whall says he didn’t want to tell them about Barry and what they were up to.

11m

Whall and Barry drove to Porthdafarch Beach car park he says to go to the coastal path. They went to the rocks first, but the location wasn’t suitable “there was moonlight and a lighthouse nearby”. They did stop at a few other places first. They wanted somewhere “secluded”.

10m

Whall said there was no other place suitable and they went into a field close to a house. He said he thought it was an empty house.

5m

“You went for another check at Gof Du that night and that’s when you went back to Porthdafarch Beach” “No I turned round before I got to Gof Du” “I’m suggesting you did and had a quick look” “I never got to Gof Du.”

3m

In interview he said he was on the coastal path about 30-40 minutes with Barry, walking round the field to try and find somewhere.

At Porthdafarch Beach Mr Rouch suggests Barry wasn’t there at all. Whall says he took out a bag with sexual items in and went for a walk “with Barry”. Mr Rouch says it was a crossbow and bolts. Whall said “there are differences there”.

16m

Whall said he didn’t see anybody else there, or a person with a crossbow. He says it was only him and Barry there.

12m

In police interview Whall said if he had just shot someone “Do you think I’m going to take a stroll down a coastal path?” If he had done it and used his running abilities he could have got back quickly, he told police. If he didn’t have an injured knee he tells the court.

8m

At 12.42am on April 19 telematics showed the boot is opened, a door is opened and closed, the engine is switched on and he drove off. His speed was faster going back than when he went to Porthdafarch Beach. Whall says “there was an awkward atmosphere” in the vehicle with Barry.

6m

12.57am Whall arrives back at Garddefa. Door opens and closes and then another opens and closed and then boot opens. Whall says “It’s obvious there were two people” Mr Rouch says it was one opening two doors. The boot is open for five minutes. “We got the bag out the boot.”

5m

Whall says what are the chances of two doors opening and closing? There are two people he insists.

3m

Whall says he smashed his iPhone - it was playing up and there were pictures on it he didn’t want Emma to see. He said he had taken photos to “use as evidence against Barry”. He didn’t want to do what he did with Barry again.” Whall agrees it was him who arranged the sex.

33s

He smashed his phone which had the photos of Barry within 10 minutes of arriving home. It was his work number. He had another phone he didn’t smash that one.

All the broadheads of the sort that killed Mr Corrigan had gone, Mr Rouch said, when the police searched his house. He didn’t need them Whall said. He had ordered a crossbow which took different size bolts. He can’t remember when he got rid of them.

12m

Whall is being asked about May 21 2019. Police officers came to his home asking about a crossbow. It’s the first time the are associating him with a crossbow.

9m

You had no other option but to tell them about a previous crossbow. “Incorrect” says Whall.

8m

Whall is asked about the tracker. Between May 16-20 you bought four trackers “Correct”.

8m

He agrees a tracker could be put on a car.

4m

Whall told police he went to put a tracker on a vehicle belonging to a person called Geraint at Richard Wyn Lewis property. He had gone a few times in May to check if the car was outside.

1m

Whall went on consecutive nights to put the tracker on the vehicle at Richard Wyn Lewis property in May.

He was probably retrieving something from the passenger seat, or he got the seatbelt stuck in the door if it was the same door opening twice. Moo

Whall says it was Geraint Williams car and Wyn Lewis was using it, but feared Mr Lewis was going to try and take it to Ireland.

1h

Whall says all his visits to Mr Lewis property were to get the tracker on the car.

1h

Mr Rouch says the way he approached getting the tracker on the vehicle, was the same as what he did at Gof Du. “No” says Whall.

1h

The tracker is nothing to do with a car going to Ireland says Mr Rouch. “You were checking up on Wyn Lewis” “I was checking on Geraint’s car” says Whall. On May 31 there was an incident between Jones and Wyn Lewis at his property and Whall was there says Mr Rouch.

1h

The incident on May 31 was about “money” agrees Whall. “Gavin’s money” he says. Gavin had loaned Mr Lewis £12,000 to buy tools.

1h

Agreed facts - Mr Rouch says on May 31, they say Whall told police Gavin Jones had loaned Wyn Lewis £12,000 - he had borrowed the money from family who now wanted it returned and he asked Whall to accompany him.

1h

Case adjourned until Monday morning.
