Otto: Our DSM defines beastiality as a rare paraphilia: Was Dr. Sollecito informed to get treatment for his son? and how does this paraphilia fit in with an attack on Meredith Kercher?

Uncommon paraphilias

BESTIALITY. Bestiality is a term that describes sexual feelings or behaviors involving animals. Termed zoophilia by DSM-IV this is an uncommon disorder. The disorder does not specify an animal or category of animals; the person with zoophilia may focus sexual feelings on domesticated animals, such as dogs, or farm animals, such as sheep or goats.

OK, just read your other------do recall you and Nova going back and forth RE beastiality or not.

Or maybe assume that it may never of happened? Or maybe it turned out to actually be Italian supporters of whom she does not even know? Alot is said and attributed to her even though she herself has no control over the people allowed into the courtroom

Nadeau wasn't writing about Knox, or what she had no control over. She was writing about the "Knox supporters" ... those people that we've come to know as Chris Mellas, Deanna, and Amanda's one friend from Seattle.

I find it unusual that the 4 friends with him supposedly at the time of this testified they did not watch this, let alone have an educator speak to them or their parents over this

What is a DSM?

Hey, feel free to think an interest in beastiality is normal. Personally, I view it as deviant behavior. You're asking me what the doctor did when he learned that his son had this particular deviant behavior? There's some info in the Judge's summary (I've linked it often enough that you should be able to find it), and the rest of the info is in the lengthy statement that Dr Sollecito and Raffaele's school provided to the court (not available online). Raffaele's behavior was closely monitored after this problem was identified.

I also find it unusual that no one else reported this. What I find to be even more absurd is that it is assumed that the "supporters" were the FAMILY by you

Do you have a link about the "four friends"? This is the first I've heard of four friends. (I mean a link that is not a blog or personal opinion on another website)

For some reason this reminds me of people deciding they can determine from a photograph where hair has been shampoo'd or not

100,000 people could look at the same photo and never come to the same conclusion as you or myself

You bet. I assume that Knox supporters includes Knox's family and friends. Weird huh.

DSM is
Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders - i never said beastiality is normal; i pointed it out as a paraphilia-----but what does it have to do with an attack on Meredith? just wondering.

I find it odd that Nadeau would not tell us it was Mellas, Knox, and Paxton, but simply speak of "supporters" within the public area. BTW, I saw no other reports of this "guttural growling"...

Well, I don't know. You were wondering if he had a neurological disorder. I said that he didn't have a neurological disorder, but he has a history of deviant sexual behavior.

It's like asking if he has a congenital disorder, I said no he has a behavioral disorder.

What does a behavioral disorder of sexual deviance have to do with the sexual assault and violent murder of a young woman? Perhaps it is at the core of the conviction.

I know---this is what troubles me, that they may have leapt to a conclusion due to this young man's troubled personality. Rudy may have simply done a burglary, rape, and slashing---yet Raffaele is drawn in due to his "strangeness". Yes, that is the crux which I find very worrisome.

I doubt that Raffaele's interest in beastiality became known to police and as a result he was arrested for murder..

Regardless of the growling, I really liked this article: http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-...-appeal-homeless-mans-contradictory-testimony

Seems pretty clear and concise without the usual bias in most of the articles seen.

Thanks!

Salem
Thanks. Unfortunately this seems to be rare these days. Maybe I read too many blogs on the subject because most articles seem to have some kind of bias one way or the other. I even read articles on the knife retesting that 'there was not enough DNA to convict'. How in the world does one jump to that conclusion based on that one retest is beyond me. At least Barbie just reports without jumping to any conclusions. She basically says we simply have to wait till everyone is finished with their testing and reports, and then nobody knows exactly how the court will weigh the evidence and draw their conclusions until the final ruling is there. I couldn't agree more :)

That is not what I am saying. I am saying that Raffaele and Amanda came under intense scrutiny, and it was conjectured without solid evidence that they had to have been there with Rudy. I find no conclusive evidence for this, wish I did.

But isn't Barbie the author of a book in which Knox is viewed as guilty? :waitasec: Angel Face: The True Story of Student Killer Amanda Knox
