I never meant to imply that the MPs were holding bayonets on them or anything....but only that this is a govenment approved situation. Not just a local one or a state one. This whole operation has government approval was my one and only point.

I think that's where we disagree - yes, it is government approved, but at this point, it is a state and local government operation only. There is NO federal involvement whatsoever that I can find. Ft Concho is NOT a federal installation. It was deactivated in 1889. Today, it is a facility owned and run by the local community, it is NOT a federal military installation.

IIRC, a reporter just angrily asked about families being ripped apart and they aren't receiving an answer as to why. Response is a judge aproved and deemed the kids had been harmed or at risk of harm. Questions about a sweeping accusation toward every parent there. Same type of answer given.

To me taking the women and kids out is no big deal. If they went into a house that was being used as a meth lab then they would remove them from there for their own protection. Seems to me that is what they are doing here as well, getting them out of a 'harmful' environment. And yes I think our gov't has the right to make that decision to a certain extent, if not then we could argue that no gov't agency should ever be allowed to go into a home where the children were being abused and remove them. Marrying your kids off at 13 or 14 or even 16 to 50 year old men is abuse and it does not matter if you were brought up in the environment and told it was the right thing or not, it is abuse. And people can wrap it in 'religion', but it's just a group of weak men that could not keep a women anyother way than brainwashing them. :twocents:

I agree wholeheartedly. To me, this is no different than when CPS goes into a home to investigate a report of alleged child abuse of 1 child and finds enough evidence to remove the children not only the 1 child, but all the children. If 2 families are living together and 1 parent is suspected of abusing 1 or more of the children, it makes sense to remove them all. It is just on a larger scale. The other difference is that the mothers have been allowed to leave with them.

To protect the privacy of the child(ren), there are many things we may never know about what has happened. To me? That's okay. The children need to be protected, and that includes their right to privacy. At some point, we have to put some faith in the system that we as an American public has elected. We don't have a right to know every detail in these childrens' lives. We wouldn't want our childrens' lives and the details of their (purported) abuse dissected as these childrens' will be in the months, possibly years to come.

Well the gist is we'll have to wait till charges are filed to get any additional info.

Hey Barb!

According to that latest article Suzi posted above they have 30days to conduct their investigation.

Hi Glow - okay, whew - just found it - here's a link. They have 14 days to hold a full adversary hearing, meaning one that involves both parties. Under TX law, children can be removed on an emergency basis after an "emergency ex parte" hearing, which excludes the parents.

http://www.dfps.state.tx.us/handbooks/cps/files/CPS_pg_5230.asp

The link also defines when a child can be removed from a home under an emergency situation.

That's not a lot of time to deal with brainwashing. I don't understand why LE housed all the women and children together. Surely, they'll all stick together in their interviews.

401?
You can bet your girdle that something was going on with those children.

Could it be not sending them to school? They claim to home school. But in alot of states prior aproval and standards have to be met before someone can home school their kids. That's one thing that could involve a huge number like that.

The CDS lady in that press conference said the ages ranges from 6 mos.to 17.
Homeschooling is not a factor for a 6 month old. She said there were abuse issues. Not homeschooling issues. She said they were all deemed to be in imminent danger. Including the 6 mo. olds. Nice, huh? Mothers of the year.

Did anyone check out the compound? It must have cost millions to build. Where is the money coming from?

Texans tax dollars.

Even if it is 401 children and they all decide to stick together on the good side of the FLDS they are still children. Authorities won't let them be returned when the investigation is over IMO. I would bet there will be signs of sexual abuse in some of the 10-11 year olds and at that juncture all children will be permanently removed.

True, and that most likely wouldn't apply to anyone under the age of 6 or whatever the school age is in Texas. It may not apply in this case, but I think witholding education from a child would at least be considered neglect.

Believe me, mothers in that sect are abused as well.

I would bet that darn near every child old enough to have a period was pregnant or had a baby at her breast.

:furious: "She said that leaders were allowed to beat children deemed unruly, and that her ex-husband used a specific form of water torture to break rebellious children. There was a tremendous amount of violence toward children," Jessop said. "He would hold their head under a tap of running water when they were crying."
