(snip)
Until today, officials had said there were 18 children at such risk of abuse that the state was taking temporary legal custody. Today that number shot up to 401, and a judge ruled the risk of abuse for all of them is imminent and serious. Texas Child Protective Services spokeswoman Marleigh Meisner said, "As of this afternoon, Child Protective Services has now taken temporary legal custody of 401 children. They have also had 133 adults join those children."

The poor state of Texas is going to be swamped trying to handle and manage 401 children in state care.

I thought Larry King Live would cover this, but he's got American Idol judges on tonight.

I bet Anderson Cooper will cover it in-depth.

This is totally unreal!!!
When I seen a picture on TV tonight of that 50 yr old man I shuddered. Just to look at that nasty evil horrible monster gave me the creeps. Can you imagine a 16 yr old having to have sex with him. YUCK!!!!!!

So here I am sitting in the Waco area, watching the news last night when they were interviewing one of the managers/leaders (sorry, don't know his title) of the local children's home...they are on standby to take approx 25 of them. This is the same children's home that housed many after the Waco ordeal 15 years ago. I don't know that the man interviewed mentioned that he, personally, was there last time, but he said they're ready to house more again. He seemed sincere and caring. I sure hope so; these women and children are really going to need so much support and professional help.

So, with 401 +/-, I bet they'll be spread all over the state soon enough.

We take care of our own when they want the help. These people chose this way of life. They didn't have to live like this or live there etc.. They are adults living in a free country free to do what they want. As for the children well..we are helping. (i'm not implying this to you Pepper but to the person you were commenting on)

Former polygamist wife just on Fox making the point that it is about time we (Texas) did something to protect our own citizens from abuse. She said that all outsiders are viewed as instruments of Satan, and that it will take a very long time and much resources to free these people from their brainwashing. She was pointing out that we've spent 4,000 American lives freeing Iraq, and it's about time we took care of our own.

Good. I say do whatever it takes to save the children. Pull out all the stops!

from the link above

"They're calling it Operation Eldorado, and it is a lot like a military operation. "

I agree 100 % with the lady's words!
It's a shame that in this country something like this is being carried out each day. Why is that?
Why has this been allowed to happen?

I saw an interview tonight on the news of a woman who had escaped from this cult a few years ago. She was telling about how horribly the abuse is inside. And they start the abuse when they are babies!
She was describing a type of water torture they performed on the babies!
I couldn't believe what I was hearing!:furious: They really do intense brain washing on these people!
So sickening!
It will take years upon years of psychological help for all of these children and women.

I think the MEN in this cult chose that way of life and the women, being brainwashed from infancy, had no choice but to obey the men. I don't for a moment believe these women would choose to be slaves to their masters if they knew any other way of life. This whole so-called religion was established to satisfy the sick sexual fantasies of the men and used the women as instruments of their desires. You need to hear what Laurie Allen and Sarah Jessop have to say about it. They lived it.

I remember reading several articles about this new "retreat" over the past few years. I believe Texas Monthly had a good article about it a few years ago.

I only linked the following articles to give an idea of how it was first perceived when this "retreat" was being built. They were obviously not wanting to publicize what this "retreat" really was.

It was being built BEFORE Warren Jeffs was arrested...so many in TX were hoping he'd show up in TX at the facility and get arrested for something, so that they could get into the facility. However, LE was careful not to impede without authority.

I couldn't remember when it was first being built, but at least these articles were written in 2004 - to give you a feeling of how long they've been there. These are two random articles, I haven't read them closely.

It was just a matter of time until the TX law enforcement stepped in to let this group know we wouldn't tolerate a situation that exists on the AZ/Utah border. That one phone call was all it took.

There was nothing to stop the group from buying the land and building the facilities. They can pay property taxes and add to the local economy, which is well and good.

The slogan "Don't Mess With Texas" should not be underestimated by any group hoping to stay under the radar in any of our communities. I love that about our state! :)

Apparently someone has alot of money.
Who was funding this " city ", their compound?

Where did all of the financial assets come from?

On Nancy Grace they stated the women were on welfare......
So it sounds like the State of Texas was supporting them.

Watching this unfold on TV and reading these stories about the victims (thanks, Sweetmop - unbelievable!) makes me realize how much isolation played a part. These groups live out in the desert, out in the country, away from any help, with few ways to make money if they do leave. It's alot easier to track someone down in a rural area, too. And have you noticed - as with Waco, the men are in charge and make all the twisted rules. The mothers are brainwashed through fear and intimidation, and they pass that on to their children, both boys and girls.

I see the boys as victims too. Who would want their son forced into marriage at the age of 16 with a girl he doesn't love, in a situation where he might have to beat or rape her in order to "do God's will." These boys have to live in fear, too, of beatings or banishment from the Alpha Males who run the group. If all these boys know about human relationships is beating women into submission, then that is what they will do as they grow up.

It's all about the selfish lust of the male leaders, and has nothing to do with Christianity. There's nothing about love or forgiveness, and all about damnation if you don't follow the sick rules.

I'm really not sure why it takes so long for any state to do something about the welfare of these children, including these mothers who are still minors themselves. It's monstrous. How many more people have to suffer this kind of crap in the name of religion?
