Was the LISK a cop or oyster farmer?

How can someone like this just stop? One day just move on get a new job, new wife, children, new life? take a break, for how long...?

Seems crazy but I've been rewatching Unsolved Mysteries all the way from Season 1, Episode 1. A recurring theme is people who eventually get caught while living a seemingly normal life, with a wife and kids and a mundane 9 to 5 day job, yet previously were perpetrating heinous sexually motivated crimes or similar. Exactly like they just stopped. Your final question is a good one. "...for how long...?" What does it take for such a person to resort to previous behavior? Job pressure, job loss, marital problems, financial problems?

Burlap is used to transport and carry Oysters. Also that area around Long island has vast amounts of Oyster farms. In addition Oyster harvest is during the months that have R in them. Most of the women went missing during the off season of Oysters. May, June, July, August. He would have more time during these months. Its just a thought!
They are the burlap used for hunting. Camouflage so it would blend in. I would not call it burlap but that is a detail they kept. Well done them.
