Watching the KC Anthony trial yesterday made me think of Patsy...

btw, there is something that really upset me while watching the talking heads discussing the verdict............they called Baez the next J.Cochran.:banghead:

NO

Cochran was brilliant,Baez was LUCKY.IMO
In the OJ case the prosecution team was a JOKE,the defence was AMAZING.IMO
In the Casey case the prosecution was GOOD,the defence was a JOKE.

I wouldn't even compare the two trials, except for how much media attention they got.

ONLY MHO.

I disagree with your opinion. Baez just won a case that just two days ago everyone, including the folks here, believed was unwinnable. And he not only won it, he DESTROYED the prosecution, and he did it with no evidence against some of the most professional and experienced prosecutors working today.

I was't luck.

UGHHHH. A few idiots on the Internet keep on bringing up John and Patsy during discussions about the verdict in Casey's case. They mention how everyone thought J&P were guilty, and then they were cleared, and people have rushed to judge Casey, and she will probably be cleared too in the future. -_-

Lies, cover up and dysfunction, that's what won ICA her freedom, just as it held justice at bay for Jonbenet. When all else fails baffle them with BS. Oh, and a handful of keystone cops. Lets face it, if LE had searched harder for Caylee the first time Kronk had called them, there would have been some tissue left on her little body too be tested and/or to tell the real story of the duct tape. We all know the poor job BPD did for Jonbenet.

Well guys, after witnessing the world's most ignorant jury verdict today, I have to say that I understand why nobody in Boulder wanted to take the Ramseys to trial. It would have been devastating to watch them go free because of an ignorant jury.

At least THEN the DA would have had an excuse!

But I know what you mean, Beck. 100%. To all the IDIs out there reading this: far be it from me to say "I told you so," BUT, I TOLD YOU SO! This is the kind of jury you guys wanted in the JB case; a jury that wouldn't be swayed by a circumstantial case. Well, you got it, and I hope you're happy!

You see, Beck: THIS is what happens when you leave justice up to 12 people too STUPID to get out of jury duty!

The only problem with that Eileen is that Boulder will need a DA with some cajones. Unless Jeff Ashton moves there when he retires, it will never happen. :(

Nope, I'm afraid not. The people of Boulder WANT spineless, brainless bureaucrats as their DAs, and as de Tocqueville said, you get the government you deserve.

I don't blame the prosecutors in the KC Anthony trial. Given what they had to work with, they did an AWESOME job. Like I said, and Roy agreed, a lot pf people have gone to prison for a lot LESS. No, the problem here is that the intelligence level of the average American jury has dropped precipitously, thanks in large part to TV shows like "CSI." A cood circumstantial case just won't cut it anymore, and that's SCARY.

Well folks, here you go. If Casey Anthony can't be convicted, good luck with JR, or BR, or the ghost of PR. This is EXACTLY what would happen if the Ramseys went to trial. I am still in shock about CA.

Wow, GB! I could not have said it better myself! If a GOOD prosecutor with a solid circumstantial case and a suspect who didn't have anyone else to pin it on AND didn't have the money to spend on powerful, politically-connected attorneys can't get a conviction, what POSSIBLE hope is there for this case, where the DA doesn't even take cases to trial and forgot everything about how to MAKE a case, provided he ever KNEW?

Be afraid, folks. Be VERY afraid. Because it's all downhill from here!

Alex Hunter was right in not arresting the Ramseys......he knew double jeopardy would attach, and there was no motive, no evidence tying the Ramseys to the crime. The circumstantial case wouldn't fly.

That's GARBAGE, Maikai! And you KNOW it! None of us have ever insulted your intelligence. Please do not insult ours. Alex Hunter didn't go forward because he knew he didn't stand a chance against the kind of big muscle John Ramsey's checkbook could call up. Not like he WANTED a chance against them, since he gave them everything except his damn shirt!

Alan Dershowitz mentioned yesterday that in high profile cases such as Casey Anthony.....good experts either donate their time or charge nominal fees....she didn't have money but got good experts. The Ramseys had money---they would have had an outstanding defense. That's the way it goes in America.......high profile or wealthy clients get a break.

I won't argue THAT!

I agree with everything you say except for this part:

no evidence tying the Ramseys to the crime.

there WAS evidence just not enough for a trial and it would have been difficult to prove which one did what, impossible job without a confession or pressuring them during interviews IMO.thats why their lawyers fought so hard to establish those interview rules/format.it's a shame it worked though IMO

That deserves an ovation!

Hunter knew from the start that the Grand Jury was a waste of time, and charging on mostly circumstantial evidence a waste of time.

I'm sure he did think that. That's the whole problem. It was a self-fufilling prophecy.

The Ramseys would have been able to hire experts to refute what some say is evidence, such as previous sexual abuse, and the handwriting.

I have no doubt they would. I'm sure they would have had no problem dredging up someone for that purpose. Up until now, I had just hoped that the average juror would have been smart enough to see through such a trick. Hope dies so fast.

Maikai, if I were you, I'd think REAL HARD about changing my mind about charging on circumstantial evidence. You had better PRAY, as should we ALL, that the day does not come when charging on circumstantial evidence is considered a waste of time by prosecutors, because the alternative is HELL. What happened with Casey Anthony is just the tip of the iceberg.

Unless of course you WANT more murderers to go free. That's certainly the impression I get listening to SOME around here!
