He believes he has to pay for friends -- perhaps for control or perhaps because he believes no one would hang out with him otherwise.

And the "friends" are happy to benefit from this type of relationship. Again, this doesn't mean that some of the friends didn't like being in DM's company.

It definitely is true IMO that many people will become friends with people with money to benefit from that. When people with money pay for things for friends, it may just be because they are happy to do things for people, especially people who are not as fortunate. JMO. I also think that people with money will pay for things for others if they feel they have to, by that I mean they may feel pressured to. Just another opinion.

Difficult to know whether anyone has been framed at this point IMO. It is possible. It is also possible that someone else is involved. That third person that was there at the beginning and who has mysteriously become obsolete still interests me. If one person has eluded capture and been obliterated from the case for whatever reason,maybe there are others. JMO

How do you know what he believes? Maybe he just liked doing things for his friends because he could.

The truth is people talk for all sorts of reasons.

Sure they do. But most "close friends" wouldn't talk to reporters or otherwise about personal details. For example, saying he bought things for his friend is one thing. Saying he saw the bills and how much was spent is another.

Pearl clutching? Please. Of course people are interested in what those who knew him say. But it would seem he/she didn't find any reporters in any of the popular MSM that were interested enough in this type of story to talk to him/her or print those sorts of details.

Of course they would want to know the truth. And they would give their info to LE if it was of any use. And they would follow the facts and their personal knowledge and wait for the truth to come out. A "true" friend, however, would not run to a reporter/blogger with info about their friend's bills in the hopes of getting any information about the truth that they don't yet know. They're not looking for information there, they're just giving it.

I think it's completely newsworthy that a guy accused of three headline-grabbing murders had the resources to hold parties costing tens of thousands dollars. It's a clear example of his lifestyle and, given his unemployment, what his parents were willing to pay for. It offers insights into his upbringing.

FYI, the person who provided this information was contacted continuously by members of the media. I just happened to be in the right place at the right time and get lucky when the person decided to talk.

I also think this story has been underplayed by a lot of the local MSM who were distracted by the Rob Ford mega-story. Both 48 Hours and Dateline are covering the case as well as the Fifth Estate. I'm told that traffic spikes at CBC News whenever there's a major development in this case. There's huge public interest.

No I don't assume at all that friends knew what happened, which is why I say going to LE could have unforeseen consequences.

Sure, all sides of any case have a chance to spread their own propaganda through their words or actions in the media...e.g., DP is paid to be on DM's side and DP sure spoke to the media quite a bit.

Ya, who do these people think they are, accepting gifts from a friend? They should totally stay in their own social class and not mingle with the wealthy. Why don't we have more social systems in place to keep the riff-raff away from luxuries like jet skis?
