I hope this isn't too silly to be included here, but the dateline location (Baton Rouge) is my home town and I think it's a pretty typical sort of crime for Baton Rouge. If nothing else, the very last sentence of the quoted story makes it worth reading.

Diocese of Baton Rouge spokesman Dan Borne says Michael Comeau was arrested early Thursday in Washington, D.C., where he was with students from Holy Family Catholic School, a K-8 school in Port Allen. According to an arrest report, officers were dispatched to Archibald's Gentlemen's Club on a complaint about "an intoxicated man refusing to pay his bill." The Advocate reports the 47-year-old faces charges of public intoxication and possession of an open container of alcohol. ... Borne says Comeau has resigned. Not quite the same but a few decades ago, I went on a school trip and only saw the 'chaperones' on the train going and on the train coming back.

We were able to do as we wished for three solid days. On the outward trip, we were told how to behave but that all went out the window of course when we realized we had NO chaperones. We were high school aged.

One of my close relatives died, aged 12, on a school trip when the teachers and headmaster all went to the bar after telling the boys to stay in bed.

He took his dog with him to the strip club?? The children were in hotel rooms at the time of his arrest.

ETA: alleged service dog upon re-reading. Comeau was arrested when he refused to get off the road.
