WebSleuth Members Assisting TES "Journal" and Support Only Thread # 2

As far as the information on the rug and duffel bag, I think these must have just been given as examples of what may be found just to give new searchers an idea of what to look for. They told us just to look for anything out of the ordinary that doesn't fit with the location.
I think you're right. A news article stated that those are things that are usually mentioned regarding any search.

Good luck to all of you. Thank you so much for giving of yourselves to help this little girl. I really feel that you're going to find her too.

God bless everyone who is out there. Tim Miller especially. I found it very interesting the contact for Equusearch last night that said NONE of the family members are searching and that she's never seen that. That says it all in my mind.

Go searchers go. Bring home that little girl.

I agree, I think they've lost one, Caylee, and don't want to lose Casey to prison. I could be wrong. They might be hiding something too. Either way I hope she is found today

Hey guys! Just got back from the search today and it was MUCH better organized!! =) I got to meet several WS'ers and it made for a much more rewarding experience. Got wonderfully muddy and I am very tired, but I'm so happy I went. okay, I'm off to spend time with my hubby now...=)

we had about 1,100 searchers today! gigi2009 just called me after they found out. She has the exact number, so I'm sure she will let you guys know. =)

Thank you for all your support!

Oh and we got to meet Tim Miller. Such a sweet man...and his wife too. He's so grateful for searchers support that he doesn't shake your hand, he hugs you. =)

PS. THEY DESPERATELY NEED MORE FOOD!
and if you get sandwiches they have to be individually wrapped or the health dept will take them away. =(

You guys are awesome!

Thanks for the update FLBeach! I'm looking forward to hearing from some of the other searchers. You guys are so awesome for helping out like this!!!!

What a dear person. He's been through so much; I find it amazing that he turned his anguish into such an important organization. I'm so thankful that so many of you are helping him and coming back to tell us how things are going. As always, our best wishes are with you.

Thank you to all of those out there searching. I wish I could join you...just can't figure out a way.

Well, I just got home from searching and it was time well spent. I met some wonderful people (no WS people, though) and we searched long and hard. We were one of the last teams to report in, if not the last. Around 6:30 p.m. about half of my group went home. The remaining few (7 of us) continued to search our area. Obviously I can't go into details, but it was worth staying and I am very glad that I did.

Over 1000 people showed up today and there were several airboats and ATVs. Lots of dogs as well. With any large scale effort like this there are going to be difficulties, but I think TES is doing an outstanding job. It is very easy to sit and say, "well, I think they should do this" or "it would go better/faster if they did this" but I can't even fathom the amount of behind-the-scenes work that goes into organizing this or any search.

I'm not sure what I can say here so I'll play it safe and say essentially nothing. It was definitely well worth my time and I will be returning tomorrow to search again.

Unity55 stated that when she returned after the search, the command center had been moved. She was not sure where she was supposed to go at that point. She came here to post this in the hopes that someone here would be able to offer some advice on how to fix these issues because she didn't know where to find anyone and wasn't given a number to reach anyone. Questioning was not an option at the search location. The post wasn't meant as an undue criticism or to discourage other searchers. It was an honest outline of the experience and an appeal for ways to find better approaches. She posted on this new thread that today's search went much, much better and it seems that most, if not all, of the issues had been addressed in a large group today. Perhaps that wouldn't have happened if, after not finding anyone in person to whom to direct the concerns, she had not posted the information here.

ETA: As for the agreement that was signed, I don't believe that there was any violation of that because the item mentioned was not something that was deemed important and wasn't even flagged. Therefore, as far as the search is concerned, that item was never "found". I am honestly asking, for clarification purposes, if someone finds something, say a suicide note (strictly hypothetical), that is later deemed to be completely unrelated because it's addressed to a Matilda and signed by a Bernard, is it a violation to mention it? Or is it a violation only if it is something that is flagged for LE or something believed to be related to the case at hand? If an item isn't flagged, then it's no more important than a rock or a turtle or sand, right? (I'm assuming that it's okay to mention those things.) So I'm not sure why something that was never flagged can't be mentioned.

In any case, to insinuate that, by her post, she is "part of the problem" is completely unfair and I found your post to be a bit harsh towards a new poster that is giving her time to search for a child she never met. She's doing what she can to help. She is trying to "become a part of the solution" and that's why she's out there. If you felt she was doing something wrong, some gentle guidance would have been a kinder, more team-oriented approach to pointing out the mistake. Most of us are not accustomed to searching for missing children and aren't necessarily acquainted with the rules. I agree that everyone there is a part of a team and that includes Unity55. I believe that WS is also a part of that team and a viable option to turn to when there are issues that need to be sorted out and no one can be found in person to whom to bring the concerns. As members of the same team, I hope we can find some nicer ways to talk to each other.

Anyway, after Unity55 addressed her concerns here, the only place she could find to address them and knowing that some members here are able to relay the concerns to TES, it seems the problems are being addressed. Therefore, the post had the desired effect as many of the searchers today felt much more confident about what they were supposed to do.

One more thing ... if this is a "journal" for WS members assisting TES but you can't write about what you saw and you can't post about your true feelings without being harshly and inappropriately accused of being a "part of the problem", then what exactly IS this thread for and who would want to come here to share their thoughts if that's the way we're going to treat them? A journal is about recording thoughts and experiences, is it not? :waitasec:

Just as you hope that Unity's post didn't discourage potential searchers, I hope that your post didn't discourage potential posters that might also be looking for guidance through an unfamiliar process or to share their experiences with us.

Jersey Girl, thanks for saying exactly what I would've said, had I seen that post. Baznme, Im sorry if I did something wrong. I am only here to help and perhaps I didn't understand the rules as well as you. I appreciate CONSTRUCTIVE criticism. My focus, as well as most I'm sure, is Caylee.

Im very happy to hear about the huge turnout today! I'll be back tomorrow and Im praying it wont be as hot as today!!!

I'm glad to hear that you're going back, Unity55. Good luck to you tomorrow and to ALL of the searchers. You're real life heroes.

Again, I don't interpret anyone's posts here as them simply wanting to throw around criticism. They were, instead, trying to post the difficulties that were encountered in an attempt to find ways to perhaps make things run more smoothly in the future. The smoother it runs, the more focused effort that can be put in finding potential evidence. I believe that everyone is doing this from the bottoms of their hearts ... everyone ... and it's a learning experience for so many. I'm sure it takes time.

Keep up the good work, searchers. Thanks for keeping us updated on this thread.

I was actually referring to some things that people who were ON my search were saying. My post about people's comments and "criticism" had nothing to do with anything that had been said on this board. I should have clarified in my original post.

My point about the people (on the search) who were "complaining" about how things were being done was that a) we don't have any clue how hard it is to put together a search of this magnitude and b) right now (during the search - not during a break time) was not the time to be telling everyone how you could do it better/faster/smarter. Our job at that time was to follow the directions of our team leaders. Yes, they were inexperienced and yes, I did think there were things that I would have done differently. But, standing around complaining about it (when you were supposed to be searching) was not helping anyone and it was bringing down morale. There is a time and a place for everything and during the search, in my opinion, was not the place for it. Again, my original comments had nothing to do with this board...they were related to my on-the-scene experience. I should have made that clear...I had been climbing through mud and muck, eaten by mosquitos and just plain exhausted when I wrote my original post so there was probably a lot of it that I could have written better and clearer! :)

Well, I'm off to search again today. As I side note, I never thought we would actually need my GPS to figure out where the heck we were yesterday...but we did! It's a good thing I threw it in my backpack! :)

Good luck to all of you and the other searchers today. I hope today is the day.

Good luck with the search today.

All the WS'rs should put a piece of blue ribbon on their shirts so that they can more easily find and recognize each other at searches.

I feel good about today. God Bless you all and keep you safe, mysterview that is a GREAT suggestion.
I dont know how everyone else is feeling, but I just realized that as badly as I/we want her found, I am completely unprepared emotionally for it- anyone else feel that way or do I need to dial up the shrink?

Thank you to all the searchers!

I hope y'all find her today. I know it will be sad though.
