Websleuths is changing our colors

A change hasn't been pushed out yet for everyone. You'd need to manually change it at the bottom of any page. At least I don't believe a change has been made yet. We all have 5 options to pick from, or not make any change at all and you're what's called Black-Orange (what we've been using for a long time.

The other 4 options are Websleuths 2025 and the new, as of a few hours ago, Orange is the New Black. Both have System/Light and Dark options (which gives you 4 options, 5 if you're using Black-Orange as we all have for some time now).
I logged into WS this evening and it looked like this. I didn’t change anything.

WOW! Looks like fraize did flip the switch. Odd because I was on the old style we've been using for a while now (years?) Black-Orange. I'm thinking it's because you logged out and then back on.
I don’t think I did though. I leave myself logged in on my browser on my phone so I never actually sign out or back in. I don’t know but I like it. lol

Sorry but I don't like the new one! Light mode is too light (can't read notifications and it all looks a bit pale) and dark mode is too dark. Orange and black has contrast and shows up well. Why not just change the orange to green? :-) Or a different shade of blue (it's a bit of a boring blue if you don't mind me saying! Looks like lots of other forums).

I've gone back to Orange and black :-)

I know you're still working hard on these new modes. Just so you know, @fraize, the rest of the ribbon doesn't show in the new Dark with Orange Mode. You have to press on a blank black ribbon.

Page Numbers show now.

I posted this magazine article on another thread while in another mode. Now I see how it looks in this Dark with Orange Mode. Hard to read white on orange. Certain ingredient labels on little bottles have to be the right color or I can't read them, yet sometimes with the right color scheme I can read tiny print.

@fraize, using Orange is the New Blue now and I see a distinct quote in a dark gray color which distinguishes it from the reply much better than before. Thank You. It helps a great deal. The quoter's name still isn't easily readable, but it only needs a tiny boost of color difference. This late owl is going to bed.

It's also possible that we can make a high-contrast theme available for people who have a hard time with low-contrast color-schemes in the future. The plan is to make the new "Websleuths_2025" color scheme the default, but we can leave Black-Orange available until we're ready to do so. If you're logged in, and set your default color-scheme to "Black-Orange" or "Websleuths_2025," it'll remain that way in your site-settings.
Is it still possible to change to "Black-Orange"?

Blue is my favorite color, but unfortunately I have macular degeneration, and I am finding this new blue scheme very hard to read. How do I get to the black orange again?
Go to the bottom left corner of the page, on desktop or mobile, click this icon, and you can select the appearance you prefer, including the old orange one.

I wanted to add 1 more issue for @fraize. Yesterday I mentioned that I don't see a different color for new Alerts, but for whatever reason, new DM posts do show as a different color. (They both used to and should)

I ran a test for you since I had only said I am using Orange is the New Blue in System/Light mode. I changed it to Dark mode and there is no color change on new Alerts using that Mode too. So... both are broken.

Thank you!

In the watched threads, it looks a lot better when the read threads are a different color - for example, the old site has gray for the read threads and bold blue for the unread threads, the contrast is easy on the eyes.

Watched Threads looks great in Orange is the New Blue/Light mode. I just need the unread Alerts a different color. I'm missing some posts as I'm guess how long ago I last looked. :(

New DMs works fine, new alerts aren't a different color. They are all white, read or not. :(

I keep switching modes. Right now I'm on this Orange the new Blue mode. Over where you're typing in the reply box it does not show the ribbon symbols to change color, etc., Changing text size is not easy in this mode. It doesn't show any symbols on the reply ribbon to change the text size, but it will if you hover over that blank ribbon. You might see a vague ghost of a ribbon. Yes, it shows if you hover, BUT that ribbon with the four three dots is difficult to navigate as it is. It's a pain to find the underline. I use that ribbon constantly so, not sure I can live with it.

The ribbon in the old Orange-Black mode.

I might be an outlier due old habits with books, so I left mine black on white. Thank you for the choice of options though. (Definitely white on dark looks fancier).

@fraize, I'm really starting to like the Orange is the new Blue. You've put some shading into the quotes and the color blue of the profile names is easy to read. Two things I wish for on this mode are (1) more readable quote profile names that stand out just a bit more against the shaded quote. (2) Links to articles show up in an orange box with white text which is very glaring and hard to read.
