BBM: ITA... This is what makes me believe the murder(IMO) of Rebecca is being covered up... I have a,ways thought Rebecca was murdered by someone who had a hole lot of rage, now, I am thinking more along the lines she was murdered so that she wouldn't speak the truth... About what happened to Maxie.

I have always believed she was SILENCED.

Maybe it is because of the pain of losing his son.... and the responsibilities of his company that was under major heat due to the accounting irregularlarities.... but it is mind boggling to me that JS does not appear to have the same questions as the Zahau do.

That "thanks so much" letter to the SDLE by JS... that they POSTED on the website... is unnerving.... it seems as long as JS is happy..... LE could not careless about what anyone else has to say, think or feel......

It it so insulting that SDLE seems to be PROUD and that they are only accountable to him with regards to this case.

What if AS or JS is one day criminally or even civilly implicated in RZ's death... is LE still going to be proud of that letter?

What an interesting question. Yes I have wondered what Gore's response would be if the Shacknai brothers were implicated in Rebecca's death. Gore has been very arrogant, imo.

I wonder if he would be embarrased that he based the suicide determination on Jonah's word about the voice mail message and Adam's word that her found her hanging. Nothing of what either of them reported was scientifically proven. Gore's statements about the DNA belonging only to Rebecca are repulsive. Does Gore want us to believe that murderers wouldn't wear gloves?

The investigation Gore did was an insult to the citizens of Coronado and San Diego. I don't understand how he can get away with such a horribly shoddy and biased investigation. He should be investigated for his part in the apparent incompetence displayed. I don't think that will happen though because he appears to be well connected.

K_Z was right on in her posts that heads should roll over this and people should lose their jobs. Gore is number one on my list. I consider him guilty. It's his job to catch the bad guys but in my opinion he's better at helping them get away with their crimes. It's infuriating.

I believe LE also did not collect integral (would be) evidence. Nor did they test much of the evidence they did collect.

Why have they not returned Rebecca's phone, computer and camera? The case is closed...

IMO, the so-called investigation was/is a sham.

I know, beating a dead horse.

Example - a red dog bone! Maybe on the bone there was more than saliva or dog hair. The dog bone could have had a piece or two of Rebecca's hair stuck to it. In my opinion, the dog bone was potential evidence that was not tested.

The overturned wicker chair too.

The tape residue on Rebecca's legs.

The red blanket on the floor in the murder room.

The recording from the camera on the Coronado bridge.

The dirt on the bottom of Rebecca's bare feet.

The dirt on the balcony.

The dirt in the courtyard.

The dirt on the table in the courtyard.

The dirt on the bottom of AS footware.

The dirt on the garage floor where Rebecca supposedly got the tow rope.

The dried secretions on the t-shirt used to hide the very thin ligature mark around Rebecca's neck and also to gag her with.

A vacuum sweep of master bedroom, bathroom, hallway and the murder (or as Nina Romano calls it...the "sitting") room

Hi, Mittymick- what is "the recording from the camera on the Coronado bridge"? I have never read anything about that, and I am just wondering what that was.

I've moved this from Rebecca's autopsy thread to here (am hoping it's okay)

I suspect that they put her in the white wicker chair with her legs taped to chair and then strangled her from behind with a garrote type ligature. While they choked her the chair tipped and fell backwards so they left her dead like that for sometime. That's why she had livor mortis in her back but not in her legs. That would also explain why her legs were in rigor mortis with her knees bent and apart.

Sometime later they decided to hang her to hide the garrote ligature mark. They untapped her legs and tipped the chair on it's side. She spilled out onto the red blanket and they rolled her onto her stomach and hogtied tied her hands and feet together.

She already had lividity in her back but none in her legs. Since the lividity had not fixed it started to move to her upper chest while in the hog tie position. She probably stayed that way for some time while they figured their next move.

They tied the rope to the bed and placed the noose around her neck after placing her fingers on the bed frame, rope, knife, door frame, etc. and threw her over the balcony railing. They probably left her hanging for a short period of time to ensure the the heavier rope ligature obliterated the thinner garrote ligature mark. They then cut her down and staged the yard for Adam's CPR performance. Imoo.

Excellent synopsis freespeech! I can totally see that happening the way you described. It's way more probable than the cockamamy scenario SDSO want us all to believe.

I really have no intention of arguing with anyone about this but I don't see how Rebecca could have killed herself. Her ankles were tied together, yet her knees were bent and in rigor mortis as if she had died while sitting in a chair. The muscles in her shoulder were torn perhaps by someone forcing her hands behind her back to tie them. Further, she was a beautiful woman and I just don't believe she would have killed herself while naked nor would she, or even could she tie her ankles and wrists together. I saw a demonstrating of a SD police woman demonstrating how she "Could" do it and it seemed awfully forced and unlikely to me.

I believe she was murdered. I believe the scream the neighbor heard was her scream as she was being murdered, and the loud music was to drown out her screams but it didn't entirely work. I think the method of death was by strangulation as she was restrained in a wicker chair, by an instrument other than the rope found around her neck. I think the rope was then placed around her neck and she was hoisted to the hanging position in which the brother claims to have found her.

This is just my reading of the evidence. Anyone with a contrary interpretation could be right.

ZAHAU: Well, at this point, our goal is to find out what happened to my sister and to find more answers. We`re not pointing fingers, but we want to find more answers. There`s a lot of questions that we have on the investigation that -- where we didn`t have any (INAUDIBLE).

Snowem Horwath - 9/16/2011

Attorney Anne Bremner is representing the family and has appeared on national talk shows to argue their case. Shacknai's attorneys have threatened her with legal action for her statements.

Horwath does not understand why and said neither Bremner or the family has directly accused anyone of being responsible for Zahau's death.

Horwath and Zahau 7/12/2012

Neither Horwath nor Zahau-Loehner has pointed fingers at the two people known to have been at the mansion July 13, 2011, but they have not wavered in their contention that their sister was killed.

'Coronado Patch reports that Zahau's family wants to the investigation to continue, and had asked the Sheriff's Department to consult with a forensic psychiatrist.

Once you say it's a closed investigation, you can open it again, Bremner told Coronado Patch.

Sheriff Gore said that the department had no plans to consult with a forensic psychiatrist, and is treating the case as closed.

We were pretty positive they were looking at the possibility of a homicide, Zahau's ex-husband Nalepa told Coronado Patch. It doesn't look like they ever did.'

"Bremner said Zahau was not alone in the mansion when Max had his accident. She said that two of the child's teenage siblings were present and that Zahau was in the shower at the time of the accident. Max's mother and Jonah Shacknai were divorced, and Zahau had recently divorced as well.
"I really hope they will reconsider and really fully investigate this case," Bremner said. "This department needs to be more measured and careful. … My belief is she did not kill herself."
