That's what I don't understand. Those that think Max's case was not handled properly want his case reopened. Those that think Rebecca's case was not handled properly want her case AND Max's case reopened. At least that is what I have seen anyway and the way that I feel as well. If one case was not handled properly then neither case was since they are connected and were investigated by the same LE. I find it very hard to accept it when someone says that Rebecca definately commited suicide because that was the result finding of the investigation yet Max's was not an accident even though that was the result finding of the investigation. I just can't make those things add up. Either both investigations were flawed or both were correct.

I think the involvement of the scooter needs to be more closely examined for Max's case. It was not excluded altogether that I know of, but a scenario was not presented for it that I know of either.

Max's death is the one that contains questions, IMO.

Well, imo, both deaths contain questions. Max's records, imo, have answers that explain Rebecca's death. Both deaths have errors in how they were handled and investigated.

I hope both are reopened and reinvestigated.

IMO Rebecca's case should definitely be reopened. Too many holes in the suicide theory. The evidence clearly shows Max's death was a result of a tragic freak accident. The only question I have about it is if the original investigative report did not include the scooter in the accident scenario.

IMO, Rebecca was murdered because of Max's accident. Like Marty Rudoy stated, if Max had not had an accident, Rebecca would still be alive.

The cases weren't investigated by the same LE, which was the point DS made in her request to the CPD. The CPD seemed to conclude that RZ was a suicide and thus there was no need to continue to pursue a criminal investigation into Max's fall because he, too, had died.

An accident is rarely a motive for murder. Changing the locks on the front door is a much easier and legal remedy. Suicides by adults after falling under criminal investigation are not all that uncommon, unfortunately.

MyBelle, can you please clear up the confusion surrounding the circumstances of Rebecca's death by providing the link to the documentation by CPD that shows she was named as a POI in the criminal investigation of Max's fall?

I have not heard this previously and find it confusing. Did the cpd clear her? Why did Dina choose not to believe the results of the cpd investigation? I am very confused by your post so any additional and supporting link would be greatly appreciated. Tia.

Changing the locks probably was not a viable option here since Rebecca was murdered approximately 39-41 hours after Max's fall. She was kept busy most of that time with airport/hospital runs, boarding the dog and taking her sister to immediate car and shopping. It appears that looking out for her own safety was the last thing on her list.

Very true. Marty and Mary were both right about that. If Max had not had an "accident", Rebecca would not have hung herself.

No, it appears looking out for MAX's safely was the last thing on Rebecca's list. IMO. Too busy shopping?

Again, Rebecca was not the subject of a criminal investigation. She had made herself available to LE for interviews and questions, even as she spent most of her time ferrying Jonah & Dina's friends and relatives to and from the airport.

CPS had not yet had time to contact her and arrange for an interview since she hung herself about 39 or so hours after Max's mysterious fall. If they had, who knows where it would have gone? I bet Dina wishes that had happened. Maybe then she would have known what really happened that morning.

So, you say Rebecca was under investigation by Tuesday. How do you know that? And, how could you know that when Dina claims she did not know that.

A report by the San Diego County medical examiner's office ruled that the manner of his death was accidental. But Dina Shacknai said doctors treating Max were immediately suspicious of his injuries and contacted Child Protective Services, which she said launched a probe and then dropped it once the medical examiner ruled the death an accident.

(Dina) SHACKNAI:
I would also like to add to that. This -- the idea of what happened to Max was such a shock, it wasn`t until Thursday afternoon that I was even informed by a doctor at Rady Children`s Hospital that they suspected something and CPS was called. Really, I feel during the week, it was such a traumatic shock, I was really, you know, not apprised of all the other information going on with I guess the Coronado Police Department`s investigation.

So which story is Dina going to stick with? That one doctor suspected something immediately or Thursday afternoon. She's told two different stories here.

Maybe the latter version was the one Dina began telling when she realized that telling the public she knew of the ER doc's allegations "immediately" might buttress the belief that RZ might have been the victim of a revenge killing.

Either way, the fact is that the ER doc misdiagnosed Max on Tuesday, not Thursday. RZ assisted LE, she was available to them. Unless you can provide a link proving she didn't, or one that proves she was under investigation, you're in error.

What she said was "doctors treating Max were immediately suspicious of his injuries and contacted Child Protective Services, which she said launched a probe", and "it wasn`t until Thursday afternoon that I was even informed by a doctor at Rady Children`s Hospital that they suspected something and CPS was called."

Dina was not told right away that CPS was called, even though they were called on Tuesday (as I recall). They told Dina about it on Thursday. After Rebecca had already hung herself. Rebecca was the person CPS wanted to interview.

Oh. So it was DINA ROMANO who is giving the time line as to when she, hosp. peeps and cps were contacted. Oh. And how would she know Drs. knew immediately...she wasn't there for hours and hours.

I don't believe what she says.
