What Is the Defense Strategy?

Primary objective for the defense seems to be to muddy the waters as much as possible and hope for 1 or 2 jurors that are either in the dark or way conflicted.
Secondary strategies get into more far reaching items, like counting on the sentencing phase, counting on appeals (AL semed keen on both of these), and at one point, it looked like JB would try a little race-baiting-That is, pitting ZFG, a black/Puerto Rican, against the Cuban community, and contending that he himself was a victim of racism in the media.
Problem with that last stratgey is that, unlike OJ in a predominantly white area of California with huge racial problems at that time, JB was trying to float this garbage in a state rich with latinos and latino/Spanish heritage, and would ultimately be saying to the jury that his white client was the victim of an evil plot by a Puerto Rican girl. Dopey.

ICA's drop off time, always was a red flag to me...between 9 and 1...who doesn't know the exact hour (most know the exact time) they drop their children off at daycare or with a babysitter? Then she doesn't drop her off at the door but the stairway??? This alleged apartment was vacant for 142 days!

ICA's entire statement just doesn't make sense. I truly wonder if she thought the police would just take her word and not check into her statements. Each and every place, name she'd given, vehicle description never panned out. The only truth were the new friends and their names. One would have thought when faced with those inconsistancies, she'd have given it up!

Knowing she wasn't employed, she takes the police to where she worked..either she is very brazen or just didn't think she'd have been confronted...I just don't get how she thought these lies wouldn't be unveiled. Her getting arrested on a whim, doesn't this family understand lying to police is a crime??? Even CA said, lying isn't a crime! When you are trying to locate a child every second is imperative. The truly innocent would give true accounts, not lead authorities on a wild goose chase. I don't see how a jury will not take all that into consideration and see when someone has something to hide, they hide it all. When someone is truly innocent, they welcome you to clear them so they can find the true perp...I just don't get this family and seems lying is second nature to them all...One more devious than the next and poor Caylee paid the ultimate price...JMHO

I've always had a big problem with ICA's inability to narow down the timeline. Who doesn't know when they dropped their child off before work? I dropped her off sometime in a 4 hour window between 9 and 1 but I forget exactly. Oh, but work ended for me at 5pm. I remember that.

I have a problem with the June 9 date. Here we have 3 adults all living together in the same house with a child they all claim to adore and not one of them seems to know when she was last seen! Don't these people ever speak to each other? If that were my household, we'd all be saying, "Monday, are you sure?" "Didn't we all _____ on Wednesday, or was that Friday"?
I will never in a million years be able to understand the A clan.

My understanding is, during a closing argument the defense can say what ever they want and not face perjury etc. So, I expect them to put on some bought expert testimony, throw up a lot of smoke, and then on close, lie, twist, distort, and prey for one stupid juror.

We all need to hope a pray that they seat a jury with common sense. Not some CSI groupie that just does not get that is not the real world we live in when it comes to real crimes. a CSI groupie messed up the first trial of Spector from what I have read. Could not grasp real evidence, wanted ALL the answers to every question. We all know on this case that will never happen between the family, the hurricane and cause of death not known. We just need good old common sense. That will prove there is only one person, she is sitting there looking at them. One that lies like a dog and no answers to any of the questions that it could be anyone else.

I do not think they will have a clue on their strategy until they hearing opening statements.

IMO, there are 2 reasons to take this to trial:

1. It will bring in more $$$ for everyone concerned, everyone who wants to write a book, everyone that wants make a movie, (C&G?) and everyone who wants to say they were there.

2. The defense is waiting to see if there is one stupid juror who as you said, who can't figure the thing out.

This is George's statement on July 16th, 2008.

"On July 15, 2008 at approximately 2005pm my spouse (Cindy) called my cell phone. I immediately attempted to return her call, and only got her voice mail. I called our land line #, and also got a voice mail. From what I remember (and my memory could be faulty), George, Cindy and Lee wrote their statements hours before Casey wrote hers. IIRC, Casey's statement was taken around 1 am, the others wrote theirs around 10 pm. Since they were in the house together, I have no problem believing they copied/overheard parts of the other statements. Some of those statments are just too similiar.

He says he did this on July 16th, 2008. So why did LE have to go to the Anthony family and correct the date for them?

I have no doubt that Cindy counted back those days also. She would have seen that 31 days would have been June 15th. Fathers Day. The day she took Caylee to see her great-grandpa. From all reports, Cindy is the one who came up with the June 9th date. My question is what happened on the 15th that Cindy wanted to steer clear from? The fight?

I understand the closing is one last chance for both sides to get their side of the story to the jury - but, really they can lie? That just seems wrong... They are still under oath aren't they?

I think Casey thought if her statements matched her parent's statements then LE would believe her. She said whatever she managed to overhear, like the date being the 9th according to Cindy, and what Caylee was wearing according to George. KC didn't care what was true or not because she knew Caylee was dead and thrown in the woods. KC thought if she, Cindy and George had similar stories, true or not, that LE would believe them, no further questions needed. MOO.

As of the latest news concerning the possible involvement of Dorothy Sims, I think we got another "peek" at one of the defense strategies.

There has been much speculation in the past as to why the defense witness list is so lacking and why defense experts who stated early on they were involved in the case have now disappeared from being listed on Defense List.

Appears to me that the defense has no intention in refuting State Expert Witnesses with testimony from Defense Witness Experts, but instead will only attempt to discredit the State experts through cross examination only?......

I could buy the 9th being a mistake --- HOWEVER, ca should have remembered about fathers day.....to this day I know that my dad had his fatal heart attack the day after fathers day and that was the last time I spoke with him....never a quesiton in my mind....if it wasn't any type of "holiday" (yes I know this is a hallmark kinda day)----I could understand the mishap...but...they had something to latch onto and didn't until LE showed them the tape....

I still can't figure out how they are going to get around ZFG--she will have to come into the case since she played such a big part in the initial investigation....am I right????? The fact they never really searched for her or anything else will be a big red flag.....imo

So back to the phone records with TL-Now, we all know KC is a liar, but the defense is not supposed to be putting it out there that she is a liar-Follow me here, if KC is a virtuous truth teller, then it stands to reason that the defense would heed her words that TL had absolutely nothing to do with this. She said it, several times. How are they planning to synch that up?
