What Is the Defense Strategy?

Forgive me is this has been discussed, but your post led me to ask if it is possible that ICA was told by JB that a deal had been offered, when in actuality, none had been proffered?

Jose LIE?????? :shocked2:

Does a brown bear poop in the woods?

Perhaps what we will finally understand..... is that KC had to do and say whatever it took......to save her life. And that will explain why she said and did what she did.

We will? I won't. Are you being sarcastic? LOL

Oh, I think KC understood perfectly. The deal was an immunity offer. And we all know now that she would not have been protected because of the way the remains were found. Only KC knew what they would find so of course she did not want to take the "deal" and hope no one found the body. If she were truly innocent she would have taken the offer (who would not) and told them what happened (or what she was saying happened at the time). She knew if she told the truth her goose was cooked. Even more reasons for me to believe she was the person who placed the body there. jmo

JB is just holding out for a deal. If I recall in the early days, KC said that JA was just mad at her for not accepting a deal. That is why the death penalty was back on the table. JA came back on her claim of refusing a deal and said that KC had never been offered a deal.

Had she been, I think she would have accepted it. And so now she plays the game until one is offered.

Maybe at mid trial, just when KC sees that there really is now way to win, she is going to offer to tell the truth if she gets a deal, the death penalty off the table.

And then she still won't tell the truth anyways. She will spin another story just to get out of the death penalty. "It was an accident...I was so scared...that is why I lied... blah blah blah."

Then she will go on a little media blitz with tons of jailhouse interviews and be a star!

But there was an Offer of Limited Immunity,
The Limited Immunity offer was to expire on August 28 2008 but Baez asked the SAO to extent the deadline and so LDB did and the new deadline was Sept 2, 2008..
Baez/Casey never responded to the Prosecutors and the deal expired.

But doesn't that just cover any assistance re comments she made about where the child was located? From my perspective, it wouldn't have helped her get any kind of immunity or a reduced sentence or "deal" once the body was found.

It looks to me that all that would have happened is the trial would have speeded up much more quickly than it has.

No wonder the Defense turned it down. It would have been an admission of guilt. With no body, why admit guilt?:waitasec:

ICA was focused on them never finding Caylee.IMO And no big payday for Jose either.

To sum up the original question:

Not meant as name calling per se. Just saying this may be the inspiration behind their strategy. Didn't CM say he watched My Cousin Vinny during the last hearing when they thought the mics were off? Perhaps JB will start wearing leather blazers to court.

Baez would be better served investing in a supply of Depends than a leather blazer. Leather stains so easily.

I've come to the conclusion that both George and Cindy will be thrown under the bus when it comes to the penalty phase of the trial.

I think initially, when Casey was arrested on October 14, 2008 she just didn't want to see her parents anymore. I think there were some stressful times in the household when she was out on bond, and she was just plain angry. Angry with her dad for testifying before the grand jury and angry with her mother for harassing her. After Caylee's remains were found, I think it became a matter of not wanting to face her parents. Sometime after that, it became a defense strategy.

As far as Jose is concerned, I think he initially didn't want the family interfering and encouraging Casey to tell them what happened to Caylee. He didn't want the family interfering with his plans to take this case to trial. As the case progressed and he witnessed the bizarre behavior of both George and Cindy, it became part of his strategy to incorporate their behavior into his overall strategy.

I fully expect that when we get to the penalty phase, both George and Cindy, but with the primary focus on Cindy, will be portrayed as terrible parents who made Casey's life so miserable that she didn't have a chance at any sort of normalcy in that household.

I note that the list of witnesses for the penalty phase is to be sealed from public until after the guilt phase of the trial. I'm sure the defense wants the identities of some individuals kept confidential until the penalty phase.
Snipped by me for space. I'm wondering if JB is trying to show another family member's prints on the shorts or bag, at least that's my opinion. I'm with you though, I think they both will be thrown under the bus during the penalty phase.

ITA, LambChop...If ICA would have told where Caylee's remains were, Caylee being found with the duct tape would probably have voided that deal.

Now, Baez comes to the reporters and tells them, it does ICA no good to show her hand when he could have suggested to ICA to take that deal (I've been looking for the interview where Baez states this and can't put my finger on it!). ICA could have come up with an elaborate explaination that she was petrified her mother wouldn't believe it was an accident (the pool has been talked about)...so she came up with a kidnapping theory. Only ICA didn't think it would take on legs of it's own and become as big as this has!

I also believe Baez is bleeding this case to ramp it up more and more, with CA as his little doubt creator (false Caylee sightings, Caylee is still alive) bringing too much media attention in hopes he can show the courts that ICA cannot get a fair trial...but I believe he is cooking ICA's goose, I don't believe a jury will get away from those 31 days (which Baez stated there were compelling reasons we would hear at trial), the decomp event in the pontiac, the lies, the text messages relating to the smell of decomp, etc..

Now he wants to introduce RK as the culprit...I do hope when this motion is heard that the SA's put in their own motion in limine to EXCLUDE RK..he was checked into and was found to be on the up and up and only the poor slob who was committed enough to look in the "ZONE" that had been talked about by KioMarie...no good deed goes unpunished and hope this falls flat for the defense...JMHO

I always wonder how Baez can move from Zani the Nanny theory, to implicating innocent people (RK), when I believe she is locked into that nanny defense (which the SAs will show at trial). Again, I believe if Baez does this it will earn ICA a guilty verdict! JMHO

Justice for Caylee

What is the Defense Strategy?

UUUMMM, I don't think they have a defense strategy and will still not have one come trial time. There has been a serious spaghetti shortage for over two years now and it hasn't stuck to the wall.

MOO

But every time some one :poke: bumps this thread - I just :floorlaugh: my fool head off.

Judging by Baez comments at the 11/29 hearing, I think its fair to say the Kronk "bad acts" motion is still not "ripe for hearing". :bang: In other words, Judge, I dont think we will be going with this cos the witness depos didn't go as planned.

IIRC OJ's team saw the wisdom in NEVER giving a name to their bushy haired stranger.

:twocents:If Baez even tries to hint that Kronk or Jesse might be involved, I think the jury will see it for what it is...........sheer desperation, in absence of any credible defense of Miss Anthony. And I'm certain Richard Grund is very much looking forward to his day in court. I can hear him saying "bring it on" Mr Baez. "Open that door for me"

He is, as you say very much locked into to the ZFG story which as we all know is a bunch of of BS.

Muffin doesn't have a prayer.......All roads lead back to her and her alone.

Highlighted is my favorite quote in the last week. Funny but so true.

What I don't understand is how JB's assertion that the body was placed there at a later date = KC's innocence. Huh??? How does that mean she didn't kill her? I just don't get the logic at all. I don't think the jury will, either.

And now the expert will testify that there were no coffin flies and she decomposed somewhere else. Same argument as above. ??

I think her best defense is that Caylee died accidentally and KC taped her face and threw her in the woods to stage a kidnapping/murder because she was afraid. THAT could possibly fly. (Except she waited 31 days and tried to make everyone believe she was still alive. Ok, scratch that!! LOL!)

Exactly!! I read Thums24's latest news release and thought WTH? Saying Caylee's body decomposed in another location proves.......:loser: ...proves nothing! What? That someone else moved it? Obviously he doesn't mean from the trunk where - yup - we know it was decomposing - ??? So someone, not ICA placed Caylee in the trunk of ICA's car, which she drove around for days, until she couldn't stand the smell any longer, ditched it and then "someone" took it out of the trunk, put it "somewhere" until it was skeletonized, then "someone" scattered the remains a very short distance from the Anthony home because.......???? Who? How? Where" Why? When? So he is saying ICA is innocent and had nothing to do with this? Was completely unaware?

He's saying ICA thought - whoops, misplaced my kid - oh well - better go get a tattoo and party my little heart out?

Has Baez slipped into a different reality or something? :banghead::banghead:
Cause this is nonsense!!

BBM coz I'm still laughing over this!!
It is crazy!! Plus, she spent the next 31 days lying to people on Caylee's whereabouts.
So far from the defense, given what I saw on the 911 hearing, where they brought in a witness who completely destroyed their argument and the hearing where JB tried to insinuate that YM took his time getting to the Anthony home, I don't hold out much hope they will do anything more than carp and fall back in it.

They are married to the Zanny story. Married to the 31 days. Married to the smell in the damn car. Married to Bella vita! 393 pages of credentials still don't change the facts.

Also, if they want to claim something like that, where did Casey think Caylee was while she was deceased and decomposing in the trunk?? Nothing will ever explain the 31 days. Plus, her little text about the squirrel plastered to the frame of her car proves she knew about the smell (of course no squirrels or any animal were found on/in her car).

And did someone just happen to walk into the Amscot parking lot, see a car, open the trunk for no particular reason and see a body, not call the cops and decide to dump it in a place where Casey happens to have a history of taking dead things? I need this to be over!

I truly believe Baez hurt his own case long ago...this isn't the video I was scouring for when Baez claims it does no good for ICA to show her hand, tell what she knows...the video above was when ICA was arrested on the economic charges...taking about leaks not coming out of his office...what a fool...JMHO

Seems very angry that his client was arrested and he wasn't allowed to "bring her in"...minor economic charges, only $700...LE interested in making ICA look bad...

@ the 4:00 mark "You are assuming she's not talking and your also assuming she does not know where her daughter is"...exactly stated...he said. "there are facts that I have not disclosed and will not disclose...I will not lay out my case in the public"...yet he has...JMHO

31 days. How will they try to explain that away? Is there a thread for this? Should we start one?
George was interviewed early on and it was stated by the reporter that Casey had moved out of the house. He never corrected her.
LKing asked abut the 31 days, "Didn't you find that odd?"
Cindy responded in her "soft" voice, "Not really."
The whole time Casey was living the bella vita, she lied to friends, saying Caylee was with the nanny at the beach, and once said her mom was joining them there.
31 days.
This case, like it was stated on the LeviPage show, is cut and dry, dime a dozen (sadly). All the enabling comments and posturing and word gymnastics are not going to explain it away.
