Where will the jury come from?

I suppose it all depends on what picture they paint for Casey.
They may very well bring in her Father and Brother sexually abusing her, broke because she had no job, and had to steal, beg and borrow from her mother, just to make ends meet (LOL, to pay her huge cell bill)
Overbearing abusive mother, who wouldn't let her out of her grasp.

I can totally see Baez attempting this slant, with his fine tuned lawyering skillzzzz...*snorts*

Good luck!

He'd have a better chance with those types of jurors, over say..middle class, stay at home moms who have help with caring loving fathers,
soccer mom, etc.

At the end of the day NOONE will associate what casey has done unless they have several screws loose. She needs to get down on her hands and knees and beg HHJP not to sentence her to death. MOO :)

population wise smaller but that isn't the main thing...you have to look at the proportion, race, sex ect to the population.

With all these stats, JB won't have to do his own homework. He can just come here with us bloggers, LOL.

If they do, they will be doing it during the mitigating phase, which Finnell will be handling and if you could read some of the cases and examples of people on trial who had the most terrible mitigating circumstances that juries or judges have given no "points" for - you would understand why this is just a ridiculous waste of defense time. Kids who have been brought up in terrible poverty, sexually abused by many of their mother's boyfriends, tortured, beaten, thrown out on the streets, foster home to foster home - just brutal backgrounds that have been disregarded.

This pampered middle class girl chose not to take advantage of all that was offered or available to her, chose to steal from her grandparents, parents and her friends rather than work, whose parents provided a home and babysat for her while she went out to party- there is no way that can be whitewashed into poor poor girl. Just no way! IMO

CM wants Paris. I say look North. Paris Ontario can provide everything you need in a jury. Canadians from the east swell Florida's population to double it's normal size every winter. Or Quebec City if he wants his jurors to speak like they live in Paris. Certainly we have rights under NAFTA or some such carpola to assist our American neighbours. You could seat a jury from Canada that spends more than half their year in whatever area of florida you want. Call us. We'll come. We've never heard of the case and certainly don't blog or have opinions about reports and stuff. I don't even know how I found this thread. Where am I and where are the recipes. :seeya: LOL! What Ticker? I don't even know what that is. :)

As a fellow Canuck! THIS MADE ME lol OUT LOUD FOR REALS!

Not all potential jurors have jobs, children, families, mortgages, televisions, obsessive needs to know what one Miss Casey Anthony is doing, etc.

I've said it before, I'll say it again... they could throw a rock and hit a thousand people right there in Central Orlando who have no pre-conceived notions about this case. It's not the big deal JB wants to make it. It's not uranium, it's 12 - 16 people. They'll find them.

Snipped from the article nums posted in the Current News thread:

http://www.wesh.com/r/26793443/detail.html

At that hearing, Perry admitted concern that the way he's conducting the change of venue could result in an appeal if Anthony is convicted.

Did anyone else think HHJP was "admitting concern" about the change of venue??? I didn't take it that way at all. Is it concern or is it making sure all your ducks are in a row? I think he is just doing his homework.

Of course, this was reported by WESH.... surprise, surprise (as KC would say :) )

I don't think HHJP admitted concern about the COV. He said something about looking for cases where this has been a reason for appeal and thus far, he has not been able to locate any. Then he kind of gave Baez "the look" as if to say "see, I'm doing my homework, so don't even think about it".

Here is a map of the FL counties.

http://www.floridacountiesmap.com/counties_list.shtml

I think we can rule out all those listed under Central, along with Volusia and Brevard of Central East and the lower counties of those shown under Northeast as the Orlando TV stations serve most of them.

The only Central FL trial that I recall where jurors were brought in from another county was where jurors were brought in from Pasco County which is part of the Central West Counties. Anyone know of any others?

So my best guess would be one of those shown under North Central (i.e. Tallahasse) or Cental West (i.e. Tampa)

Baez is worried he won't be able to find an "impartial" jury...His Honor darted back at him with....

“The jurors are not supposed to be deaf, dumb and totally uninformed.”

I wonder how well jury selection will go with Baez in control? He believes he needs to find people who have not heard about the facts surrounding this trial or ICA....as long as people are able to separate what they've heard and rule on the evidence, this should be an easy task. Knowing this is Baez, it won't be...JMHO

BBM--let's hope that JB takes a back seat and lets CM take the reins on jury selection. (Wait, did I just say that? Eeep.)

It will be a fiasco either way. I wonder if CM isn't in the early stages of Alzheimers and doesn't realize it.. I'm not sure he could act that befuddled- from other Attorneys/legal personnel who have seen him in action in the past there is a lot missing now. JMO

I wonder the same thing.

Alzheimers is terrible and I hope they find a cure soon. I wonder if the state can insist on testing to make sure he is competent to be her lawyer. It takes a while for Alheimers to really show up conclusively and if it turns out he is in the early stages, Casey would surely win on appeal and they would have do this all over again.
