Such a shock! Such a beautiful and talented woman. Too young to leave us. Rest in peace, Whitney. You will be missed by so many and remembered for your incredible talent.

You sang it best, "I will always love you".......

Her body was found at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Her cause of death is still being investigated. She sold over 180 million records.

per TMZ not MSM

Beverly Hills police have sealed off the room where Whitney Houston died and will not enter until they obtain a search warrant...

it is sounding a little too familiar and a lot like an OD.

Whitney Houston became an industry commodity far too soon.

She was a shy girl when first with Clive Davis, and stayed that way in her early years of sudden success.

They sang her to death then, or her voice anyway. Had they instead directed her to a throat specialist, the nodules on her cords could have been resolved. Instead, they worked her hard and the nodules became nodes requiring surgery. No such operation leaves a vocal gift untouched.

RIP Whitney...you gave it all for us to hear your gift as you shared it

~jmo/fwiw, with help from one sitting next to me who knows the story~

OMG! I just got back from our local Mardi Gras parade and saw this on my home page!

I listened to Witney Houston sing the National Anthem again and got such chills. This is so very sad! She had one of the all time great voices, IMO.

Her death makes me so sad. RIP, beautiful lady.

I would also like to honor her Mother Cissy who has spent so many years trying to help Whitney recover her life. May she also find her peace.

Sending the strongest support I can muster to the entire Houston clan, with love.

Very sad news. I was so hoping someday she'd be able to break free from the bondage of addiction.

She did have an amazing voice. My heart breaks for her family and friends. My prayers go out to them.

Sleep peacefully Whitney. :rose:

Two days ago, Gawker or one of those sites, had a photo of her stumbling out of a bar in Hollywood, with blood running down her leg and her hair all messed up, like she had been in a bar fight...obviously not a good week for her. She really looked messed up...

Pardon me if this has already been posted. But on the link below, is Whitney Houston's performance at the '94 Grammys with "I Will Always Love you," one of my all time favorites (late hubby and I used to dance to this all the time :)) and then another video with her singing "One Moment In Time," (how fitting for Ms. Houston )

I loved, loved, loved Whitney Houston. I fortunately was able to see her in concert one time. What a dynamic performer.

OTOH, my daughter recently, within last year, waited on Ms. Houston and her, assistant, for about an hour one day. It was,.........quite an experience.

I will remember Ms. Houston and what a fantastic performer she was. I'm not going to dwell on the details of the media circus they're sure to make of the circumstances surrounding her passing.

For me, this is a time to remember how much Whitney gave to the world of music. She will be missed by many.

As for drugs, each generation suffers its extreme losses among family & friends, deaths of its entertainers included. Janis thru Amy, in my time so far...

But for just now, I want to remember Whitney Houston, the person who was loved by those who truly knew her. And to those persons, I extend my heartfelt condolences.

I felt shameless for looking at those pictures just now of Whitney coming out of a bar earlier this week. Yes, her hair was messy, and the pictures captured her mid sentence making her look even more disheveled, but her eyes and complexion looked so clear. I don't know if she was on drugs or whether she just danced all night and that's why she looked that way, but I found myself feeling pissed off at the magazine for publishing pictures of her like that. I realize it's all about making money and the magazines don't care about the celebs personal lives, but still...I can't imagine being famous and how it must hurt to see things like this printed. Addicts usually have a lot of guilt over their addiction and anyway - and then to see the things printed like this Ugh - can't imagine. It's just sad. She's gone now. Rest in Heavenly Peace, Whitney.

As a P.S. to my posts above...

I am glad Don Lemon has been covering this tragic story for CNN. He has kind eyes that tell his soul...a good heart and a brave one too.

I am saddened to hear phone calls from 'notables' who don't have the facts straight and appear to be self-promoting. I don't deny their shock or sorrow, but I just feel they are using the opportunity...

Whatever happened to a moment of silence, to honor the departed?

RIP, Whitney
