Jennifer Hudson brought me to tears. I admire Jennifer as she has been
through so much and is one strong lady. She has pulled her life up.
What a fitting tribute.. I think she is wonderful.

This, if true, is an enormous boundary violation between child and parent. No 19 yr old child should be parenting their 40 something year old parent. Not ever. children of addicts.

Well it happens quite often - is even cultural. Becomes cultural after
enough time in adverse conditions ... just a fact. People are human.
They have to bond with something (whatever is available). No law or
ideology can undo Nature.

I would think that if your are under sedation unless it is anethesia, if you head went underwater, it would wake you up. .

You might be semi paralysed and unable to function, suck in enough water
which only makes matters worse, might burst a few air sacs trying to expell
water autonomically, might have an embolism, incapacitates you further, then
you just literally relax and lose consciousness and in 3 minutes its over with..
doesnt take very long and Ive been told it isnt really painful.

Waterboarding techs know the drill ... there is a critical line you dont dare
cross and one involves waterboarding people who are on narcotics ... they
will struggle a bit then just suck water and die and its over -

It would be pretty hard to drown yourself intentionally because natural reaction would be to pick your head up out of the water. It is rare, but suicide by drowning, actually happens... I found it hard to believe myself.

I don't have much to add to this thread, found out late last night, but just getting here, but wanted to add my thanks to all of the WS posters posting clips of Whitney's greatest hits. My personal favorite is "I Will Always Love You", and I loved "The Bodyguard"!

R.I.P Whitney, you were one of the greatest Divas of all time (in the best possible way- right along with Celine Dion and Barbara Streisand) and a very beautiful woman as well. Listening to you hit the high notes was pure joy! Sorry your addictions got the best of you, you were too young to die. Glad they paid tribute to you at the Grammys. I dont think she was suicidal. I think she was a scrapper and fighter
from an early age, felt entitled if not superior, but was very depressed,
very unrealistic using strong narcotics, and having a very difficult time adjusting
to the aging process which (lets face it) is the last thing a Star wants to have to
cope with, much less experience.. I cant see this woman ever accepting the fact she
was aging and 48 years old short of a large struggle and psychiatric care. Divas are forever.
She was in a relationship with a guy 15 years younger ... she was inviolved in a blood letting
finger nail fight with a competitor half her age just a few nights ago ...

I think this will be listed as an accident involving drug abuse. They
call it the "Hollywood Backlash", but its all too common in that culture.

When she married the Bad Boy Bobby she told everyone they were more alike "in our
souls" than people thought. She knew herself pretty well and she probably knew she
was tempting fate from the limitations of her lifestyle also ... and an accident intervened.

I think she was a very precious human being and Im am very sad this happened. The Voice
is gone.

Frankly, I think everyone who was supposedly her friend and attendant - SHOULD BE FIRED!
There really needs to be intervention in situations like these -

Luckily a counselor on shore saw me go under.
I woke up on the shore in the sand.
It WAS VERY PAINFUL! but I was conscious for a min or two- it felt like eons!!
Took me YEARS to get back in the lake... STILL can't go above my shoulders in the ocean tho...

I had read in a recent tabloid still on the newsstands this evening, that she had started partying hard again in the last couple of weeks in response to Bobby Brown not wanting to get back together with her. Perhaps that along with the pressure of the upcoming Grammys led to this, but I still think it was accidental...

I assume you werent full of narcotics with your autonomic system
dulled or shut down ?

The telling point for me was she was found with her face under water
and you know she had been in that condition for a matter of minutes
if not longer by the simple fact she could not be revived by Fire Dept
Paramedics (who got to her quickly after found because they just
happened to be in the building on another call!). That means her heart
could not be started and she probably had flat brain waves even after
stimulation ... she was already gone. Brain dead.

I dont even like talking about this. Im sad and pissed. So adue and
best regards to all her fans -

Yes It was a looong time ago. I am 44 now and I really don't usually mention it
unless it comes up in conversation.
The viral pneumonia I got was actually worse! I was sick for MONTHS!!
6th grade was bad!

I can only hope she was not aware of it. With no foul play I feel certain
for whatever reason she didn't suffer!

Yes, and I also I wanted to add that the drugs Subutex and Suboxone can cause someone to sweat profusely. I know personally because I have a family member who took it to get off other drugs (Lortab, Vallium, Xanax and Oxycodone). A lot of times when a patient goes into rehab - Subutex is given to patients to help them get over narcotic drug addictions. It's suppose to help them ween off the narcotics without getting sick. My relative never had sweat that much before, but when he was put on Subutex - the sweat would just pour off of him to the point where he was ALWAYS sweating and was always drenched.
