Yes, that looks good, which software do you use for that? Maybe try to do do her with brown hair, many runaways like to dye or bleach their hair, I believe this girl had medium brown hair. Duh ok I just saw you had done that lol.

Jeez you do better that many forensic artists lol. Just one thing the right high is too low you should move it up a bit.

Ok, here's my final attempt for the day. I need to do something else for a while.

If you know anyone that wants to pay me for doing these, you know where to find me. lol

You did a great job on these.

Thanks, everyone. It was a labor of love. Bless her heart.

Wonder why they don't show all the different reconstructions to the "witnesses" and ask them which one looks most like her. Not that I believe their story for one second.

That is a good idea.

I am trying to figure out how we can use her dentals to better pinpoint an age, but as I'm not a dentist, it's not really working for me.

According to her dentals, all 4 wisdom teeth were impacted. I assume this means they were IN, just hadn't been removed yet. She had fillings in other teeth, and possibly root canals, which indicates that at some point she had some costly work done. That tells me that maybe she hadn't been a "prisoner" for as long as has been considered, and could be a more recent runaway.

I think she might be closer to 16-18 and just looks younger.

I found several interesting articles about determining age through examining wisdom teeth. I hope these links work, but I will also highlight some aspects:

http://www.animated-teeth.com/wisdom_teeth/t1_wisdom_tooth.htm

From this article I learned that Wisdom teeth begin to develop at age 9. The crown is usually complete by age 14. The following is a quote from this article:

"Then as the root develops, the teeth begin to move slowly through the bone towards the mouth. By approximately age sixteen the jaws have reached their adult size and this determines whether there will be enough room for the wisdom teeth to erupt into the mouth normally. If there is not enough room for the wisdom teeth to come in, they will remain trapped in the jaw bone. When this happens the wisdom teeth are said to be impacted."

Furthermore; I read abstract about a study done to determine how accurately wisdom teeth growth can determine age:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?cmd=Retrieve&db=PubMed&list_uids=16274073&dopt=AbstractPlus

The general idea is: (and I quote), "The correlation between the developmental stages of wisdom teeth and the chronological age was high in general."

Is there anyone with any education around dentistry that can give us a better idea about the probability of LE being accurate on the age being no less than 13 and no more than 18?

So judging by what you just quoted, I'm correct in thinking that she must be at least 16. Which I already suspected because of the waxed eyebrows and tattoo.

  • #431
I had to have my wisdom teeth out when I was 14 because they were impacted and causing me tons of pain and headaches - most of my friends got them out when they were 16+.

I don't think we can use the tattoo to accurately determine age as we do not know officially if it was a homemade tattoo or done professionally. (And even if it was done 'professionally', she could have presented a fake ID or the 'professional' could just not have cared about the consent forms.)

Having decent dental care and grooming might just have been part of a 'requirement' for whoever kept her. Perhaps she was trying to get away finally when she 'fell'?

I'd love to see a picture of that tattoo, too!

Can someone ask the investigator in this case if the jane doe has a shortened index finger? That would put this russian girl either in or out! Did we ever ask that?

That is a good point I have a 22 year old daughter that is little like this girl was and her wisdom teeth were impacted too. Maybe she hasn't been reported as a missing child maybe she was reported as a missing adult? It's just a thought. :)

This girl is just so beautiful, it's so sad to see her lifeless photo. It haunts me. I just can't seem to forget about this one. I guess everyone has that one case that they just can't forget about. This one must be that case for a lot of us.

So many times we don't have a real picture to reference when looking for an unidentified person. This time we have a picture, and it's still so hard.

I think that is a great idea about the shortened index finger. Doesn't that seem like something they could easily overlook? It does to me.

She very well could be an adult. Good ideas everyone. I hope we find her identity.

I really wish LE would release more pics of this girl.....I truly feel like she MUST have felt scared or in immeadiate danger to jump from a moving vehicle on a highway.....She probably felt like she would rather take her chances by jumping than by staying in the car and possibly being raped and mudered by them...Do you remember the Karla Holmolka case, where her and her husband would take young girls by pretending to needs directions etc, and would get them in their car took them home and rapedtortured and murdered them( they video tapped their acts) just a sad sad horrible case...Could it have been something like that, where she asked for a ride from these people and got spooked by them and jumped...I really wish we knew who these people were...Why is that such a secret if they had nothing to hide would'nt they be active in trying to find out who she was and feel really bad about what happended and be on the news saying this is unbeleive able...Well since they are NOT active in trying to identify her I think they are hiding something...

I agree. No one is just going to jump out of a car for no reason on the highway.

I think this missing women resembles our Jane doe. I realise the age is off but it is not an impossible difference. What do you all think?

Are they sure she is Caucasion? Arizona is a border state and I teach in California and I have many Hispanic kids who look white- literally...you would think they are of Northern or Western European background....if she had brown roots she could be Latina and just over the border or from a Hispanic family.....

I definately see a resemblance! I wonder if they could be that far off with age. It's possible.
