Why not put Casey in the general population while in jail...??

Wow, I'm surprised Judge Strickland decided to allow the forgery trial to go before her murder trial! This is good news.

Considering all the charges pending against her it's not likely she would ever be placed in GP. In fact, I'm glad she won't because then that means she will definitely stand trial for Caylee's murder. I want Casey to face what she's done in a court of law. If some inmate takes her out before then it will leave too many unanswered questions. Questions we here have been anxiously awaiting the answers to.

Protective custody in prison isn't a guarantee someone won't get to her!

Jeffry Dahmer is one example. the priest in Boston another. But I do agree with you that she needs to stay alive to face the charges of what she did to Caylee, to face all those she's used and abused and dragged into her cycle of blame and ruin. Most importantly, she needs to face her extended family as they get on the stand and testify on behalf of the state--CAYLEE--and have to look directly into their faces. Number one tho, is she needs to be found guilty and punished for snuffing out her own baby girl and go wherever it is whether the row or LWOP and face the meanest and most unforgiving of such crimes perpetrated by mother's of their own flesh and blood. Exactly what she deserves, to suffer minute by minute that same fear she put into Caylee in her last moments on earth!

She may get lucky and get to remain at the county jail during the week once her trial starts, but if she's to serve more than a certain amount of time it's off to the big house. From what I've read way back the county by law cannot house prisoner's who belong in the state house of corrections with a sentence longer than a year or two. (I can't remember exactly tho)
She's no different or special than any other criminal--high profile or not. Once found guilty and sentenced she should be treated no differently than another whose committed the same crimes.

Can't wait for AH's day for justice.
More so, little angel Caylee's!!!!

I agree with most of what you've said, but have to say that it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all if someone administered death by broomstick before her murder trial even began. Think of the money it would save Florida taxpayers. And the corners of my mouth rise a wee bit at the mental picture of AL & JB defending a guilty-as-sin and dead, too monster. Think they'd back out of the case if this happened?

You know, thinking about that..............the corners of my mouth rose a wee bit too, oh yeah. it wouldn't bother me for even a second. Can you just see the headlines............?
Not only save the tax-payers but the pending ruination of God only knows who or how many innocent people's lives!

as for JB & AL......
They'd defend her killer yes they would. That's how much they care about their "innocent" client............you kiddin', they'd make millions and we'd have to suffer thru their faces on the tube for the next who knows how many years!!

IMO, Casey willl not be in general population even if (when) she is convicted on the check/fraud charges. She is a high profile inmate and someone would kill her to make a name for themselves.

The 3 C's are Care, Custody, and Control of inmates. It is the jails' responsibility to keep Casey safe (Care) and since she is high profile, she will be in Administrative Lockdown to keep her safe. Nothing will change until she gets to prison. We know, of course, if Casey gets the Death Penalty in the murder case she will go to Death Row. If she gets life, she will be in general population in prison.

IMO, Casey has no idea what prison will be like. She doesn't have it too bad right now, but prison is a whole 'nother thing.

Wondering if anyone recalls.....

IMHO, the Susan Smith case comes the closest to this case as far as media attention, citizen anger, etc. Was Susan Smith kept in protective custody prior to her trial? What about after sentencing? I do recall reading several years ago that she was transferred to another prison for sexual relation violations or something...so assuming after convicted she was NOT in protective?

I doubt she'll get time for the check fraud charges right away. I'm betting on something like 4 years, suspended. Once she is convicted of murder, then the fraud sentence will be tacked on to the murder sentence.

They can give her time-served as far as I'm concerned, as long as she gets the felony conviction. Then, she goes on trial for murdering her precious baby as a convicted felon. Every nail in her coffin helps! ;)

It certainly isn't going to be her "La Bella Vita", is it?

:woohoo:

This has been discussed - the reason seems to be that because she is so "high profile" she wouldn't last until trial!

But it is NUMERO UNO on my CHRISTMAS WISH LIST!

:D Casey gets socks. :woohoo:

I don't know what you want me to say Cleo. I don't make the decisions as to who gets put in prison and who doesn't. That's why we have juries. Until societies decide to spend more money on people than they do on weapons and armies, then our only choice is to warehouse people in prisons instead of at the very least trying to treat them. I'm a realist, I understand this, until we have the technology and knowledge to fix these broken people, we really have no choice but to remove them from society and keep them in warehouses which is what prisons really are - society's warehouses for the people who are broken and suffer from mental deficiencies so severe that they act against their own best interests as human beings.

In no way am I suggesting that because they're mentally ill that they be excused or their behavior rationalized or justified or that they be free to roam the streets - the rest of society has the right to live their lives free from fear that these people cause. What I am suggesting is perhaps we should look at ourselves a little bit and examine our own behavior - if we wish harm and beatings and death on someone who has caused harm and death, how does that make us any better or morally superior to that person?
In other words, you can't teach a child not to hit if you hit him to teach him not to hit...

You are right and yet I still would put bullet in the guy who tortured poor Jaycee for 18 years and forced her to bear him 2 children. I do not care to pay taxes for him. He is a waist. So is his wife.
I know it is off topic.
I think each case depends...I don't even want to hurt a fly, but given promised freedom and a gun I would kill that SOB for what he did to 3 little girls and many more.

I'm not being condemnatory here, I am really curious - why do the same people who bitterly hate and despise KCA for killing her child now want her to be beaten and killed? And what really puzzles me is that some people here have stated that they've made terrible mistakes in the past and yet they don't want to be hated and despised for their crime. It doesn't make any sense.
Hi Bev! I think folks are just venting. But...
I've never read anyone confess to murdering their child here or confess to any crime gone unpunished. What forum are you reading???
I read about people with consciences sharing their experiences and mistakes to offer insight but crimes?
I've read about members being banned for crimes actually.

But back to KC.
Do unto others as you would have them do onto you. That's all I want. Caylee was tortured IMO and her killer deserves to be punished accordingly.
I trust the jury and karma. :D
In the meanwhile, solitary must be killing KC.:woohoo:

I think you are right. She'll get a suspended sentence or time-served.
While check fraud is a felony, it is a white-collar crime and it is her first conviction.

Two answers to the topic question-

1. Litigation-Don't want a prisoner harmed
2. It would be an injustice to her victims not to have their day in court if someone did something horrible to hurt KC

I want her safe and healthy for trial, so she will be alert enough to understand the devastation she's caused to many many people. Not so much cause she would be affected, but because a sociopath hates to be cornered.

Yeah corrections tries to make sure inmates are safe from attack, especially high profile ones like princess. Now prison can be a whole other ball of wax. While they have segregation there too (and Casey willl be segregated for a while at least) there are not as many guards and sometimes things do happen when the guards "step away". Even while princess is locked up in a cell she will hear the other prisoners sending various forms of threats and comments her way (she's gonna be scared like she's never been before)...this is my happy thought for the day.

This is from the Fla. Dept of Corrections website:
The Daily Routine of Death Row Inmates
Death Row &
Death Watch cells:
A Death Row cell is 6 x 9 x 9.5 feet high. Florida State Prison also has Death Watch cells to incarcerate inmates awaiting execution after the Governor signs a death warrant for them. A Death Watch cell is 12 x 7 x 8.5 feet high.

Men on Death Row are housed at Florida State Prison in Starke, FL, and Union Correctional Institution in Raiford, FL. The women on Death Row are housed at Lowell Correctional Institution Annex in Lowell, FL.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Meals: Death Row inmates are served meals three times a day: at 5:00 am, from 10:30 am to 11:00 am and from 4:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Food is prepared by prison staff and transported in insulated carts to the cells. Inmates are allowed plates and spoons to eat their meals. Prior to execution, an inmate may request a last meal. To avoid extravagance, the food to prepare the last meal must cost no more than $40 and must be purchased locally.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Visitors: All inmate visitors must be approved before visitation is allowed. Questions regarding an inmate's visiting day(s), visiting hours, and special visits should be directed to the Classification Officer responsible for the inmate at the inmate's assigned facility. Questions may be sent by letter, e-mail or by telephone. Members of the news media may request Death Row inmate interviews through the Department of Corrections Public Affairs Office at (850) 488-0420. The inmate must agree to the interview and the interview will be non-contact.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Showers: The inmates may shower every other day.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Security: Death Row inmates are counted at least once an hour. They are escorted in handcuffs and wear them everywhere except in their cells, the exercise yard and the shower. They are in their cells at all times except for medical reasons, exercise, social or legal visits or media interviews. When a death warrant is signed the inmate is put under Death Watch status and is allowed a legal and social phone call.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mail,
Magazines &
Entertainment: Inmates may receive mail every day except holidays and weekends. They may have cigarettes, snacks, radios and 13" televisions in their cells. They do not have cable television or air-conditioning and they are not allowed to be with each other in a common room. They can watch church services on closed circuit television. While on Death Watch, inmates may have radios and televisions positioned outside their cell bars.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Clothing: Death Row inmates can be distinguished from other inmates by their orange t-shirts. Their pants are the same blue colored pants worn by regular inmates

You know I really hope Casey gets the DP and I hope it's carried out, but the stats for Florida women sentenced to death are not good. The majority have their sentences commuted to LWOP. I don't know I guess Life in prison could be worse than death for some, but Casey I'm not sure about.

AL seems to think she is headed for DP.

But as you said, it's rare for a female to actually get DP. Yet with this case, CA has made this such a media circus, everyone nows that KC has been totally cold hearted over this.. It's not likely to be forgotten. She just might get the DP.

When the anti-DP protesters start trying to prevent the DP from being carried out.. there will be even more standing there, reminding folks that she never showed any remorse for Caylee. Only for herself. A's have ensured enough perment anger, that folks will rally for the DP.

And whose fault is it that out of all the women, KC is more likely to get the DP??

Heres a link to the women who have been sentenced to DR in FL...most had their sentences commuted to LWOP. There is one on DR right now, but I believe she has only been there since 2008 (Tiffany Cole). Tiffany was convicted of the brutal murder of two people who were buried alive. Another that was on DR, Ana Marie Cardona (brutal torture and murder of her three year old son, I believe) is now in the Miami-Dade County jail awaiting a new trial. Not a good precedent here.

http://www.dc.state.fl.us/oth/deathrow/women.html

On the above website it says that Ana Cardona was released from prison, but I actually think they mean released to county jail for a new trial. This was the last I heard on this case. Hopefully her vacation will be shortlived and she will be rightly returned to Death Row with no change in sentence. What she did to that child is unthinkable.

One more addition, there have only been two women executed in Florida's history...Judias Buenoano was executed in 1998 for the murder of her husband and paralyzed son. Of course the second was Ailleen Wuornos in 2002.

Not trying to bring anyone down here, but I think a look at Florida's history on this matter is important...even if not very encouraging. Florida does allright with carrying out the execution of men inmates it seems, they are second in the nation.

One of the things I hope to get the opportunity to ask God about one day is why 🤬🤬🤬's like KC are able to spit out kids with no effort and either abuse or kill them without batting an eye, while there are good, loving people (like my sis-in-law and so many others) on this forum who have struggled with infertility or lost babies that they wanted so bad. It just is so unfair.
I feel you on this. I am unable to have children due to infertility issues, and it just makes me so angry to hear of all these women and what they do to their children. I would give anything to have a child, and to sit every single night and watch the news and hear of another poor child who was murdered or abused in the care of their parents or other relatives just eats me up.....if only

Everytime I think about KC going into gen pop, I hear a song start playing in my head! "Beezlenut Oil! Beezlenut Oil! Boil that Spec in Beezlenut Oil!"
