Why take "rocks" into evidence??

I don't know if the bag was open or if it ripped. Did it rip when it was being brought up or was it already torn apart by a storm, the current, gators, time - or all of the above? The small pieces might be all that was trapped in a section of the bag by the pavers, while the rest washed away. <respectfully snipped>

Good points. Could be many reasons for the tear in the bag. The whole thing just seems very strange so I won't dismiss it until we can be sure. And I won't buy LE's excuses right away either. Not that I have no respect for them, because I respect LE very highly for the work they are doing in this case, but after following many cases I know (and I know tons of other WSers know too) that LE will mislead in situations like these. I'm curious as to what exactly the cement which weighted the bag was. Was it pavers? Because we do know the A's put landscaping pavers down in July. She couldn't be that stupid. Could she?

Would KC be stupid enough to take a paver from her parent's back yard? No, surely not. Not KC, the modern day Miss CSI.

I don't buy LE's excuses either. Something happened yesterday.

Oh, that's right. She doesn't have a degree in Forensic Science, but she did watch it on tv. Surely that must count for something in KC land. She's probably dumb enough to believe all the crap that is spewed on CSI etc. I hope she realizes it's not like that in real life forensics. Well, she'll find out soon enough I suppose.

Chilly, pay attention to these posts. This makes me believe they did find something significant... Also to the poster who said they didn't know their children's toys- although my daughter has alot, unless she hasn't played with it in awhile, I've bought most of her toys, or seen them given and know exact brands, plus I end up buying a lot of toys for her friends and cousins birthday parties, so yeah I do know her exact toys!

I know my children's toys as well, but the toys in the bag would not have been among the toys the LE saw in the house because they would have been in the lake. So unless CA and GA were there, I don't see how they could have discounted them.

OK i see this point has been made before. Sorry

Well now News 13 is reporting that it was a bag of toys and sticks. STICKS ? Why in the world would you weigh down a bag of sticks with a couple of bricks ?

Well, "sticks and stones"!

Honestly, what next!

JMO, Ch13 is not known for real accurate news. They've consistantly reported news in my near-Orlando city inaccurately. I do watch Ch13 but verify everything they say.

The small toys may have had the smell of decomp? Been in the trunk where the doll wasn't?

Yes, maybe they were scattered in the trunk and she just snatched them up and threw them in the bag, too. OMG, this is so sad, I want it to be her so bad. Does anyone truly think it really could be her?

Good lord...is it rocks or sticks or animal bones?? No matter which, the question is still why on earth would LE take any of those 3 things as "found property"???????

But these were "tiny" toys--could have been fast food kid's meal stuff. I used to literally have bins filled with them.

When FBI and Orange County Sheriff’s Deputies arrived to the scene yesterday, they immediately began to analyze the discovery and soon determined the contents of the bag were animal bone fragments and several toys.

According to Captain Angelo Nieves of the Orange County Sheriff's Office, the findings are being considered property found, not evidence.

I asked my Dad (retired Police Chief/FBI) about the rocks - luckily he was watching the recovery also on the news - I asked him why would they take the rocks? If they aren't bones?

He told m that even underwater DNA could still be on whatever they found - there could be hairs or fibers

So I asked but rocks? He said that they might not have been rocks, LE might not say right then, LE doesn't release everything

Then I told him that 3 unmarked cars went to the A's house soon after the find - and left with a bag of stuff - he said that he is sure that LE is looking for fresher DNA and to compare some things

He's not sure if this is connected, as he reminded me again he's not privy to any information, he's not there looking at documents and evidence

He does say that Casey killed the child and she will be convicted

He is the expert, in over 50 years of police/detective work including working on the Manson murder case, he's pretty much seen it all

Why didn't TM's sonar find these items?

Sort of OT....
Did I hear right on Nancy G last night, that Tim, when he found out where Lenny was going to search.
Tim took his team there first and did infact do some searching?

My thoughts on any search, no matter what equipment or man power you have, things can still be over looked. JMO

I believe bones were found. I also believe that LE is saying that its not bones because until they can CONFIRM that it is actually Caylee they are going to keep it underwraps. Just think about how the Anthony's neighborhood will be when Caylee is found?! I am sure there is going to be protesters and riots due to the Anthony's adamantly denying that Caylee is dead. There is alot of emotion in the whole world for Caylee and there are people that will have mob mentality when Caylee is found. JMO

I was thinking the same thing..........keep it all under wraps til possitive.
Remember some heard it and saw it first hand and grown men cried..........
sorry I believe it was fingers and toes not rocks, but of who is the question.........gumbo,ninja turtle sounds like a boy toy? LE has kept allot to the chest, I feel it hit private news first, so the LE will deny it til proven.
IMO

This was the thing that made me hold my breath. Nothing comes to mind when I try to imagine why someone would throw a garbage bag of small toys into a river and weigh it down with a brick, cement block (or a paver anyone?).

I have actually been to quite a number of outdoor events and picnics where people put trash bags near the tables for convenience rather than walking a long distance to deposit items piece by piece into a public trash bin. I have also frequently seen them weighted down with rocks, large chunks of wood or whatever is close by to keep them from blowing away during the event. Maybe this is more common in Kansas winds than around Florida, but I could not even begin to count the number of kids parties, cookouts, and campfires where I have seen this done to hold trash bags in place. The small plastic junk type toys that have been described that were in the bag were very similar to ones used as cupcake decorations and birthday party bag favors. They also seem similar to "Happy Meal" toys. The bones/ broken plastic or whatever could easily be picnic leftovers of any kind.

Tim searched lake but did he search the culvert area? He didn't answer that, did he???
