Why was JonBenet's case so highly publicized?

BOESP, Patsy could have starred in "The Real Housewives of Boulder, CO". There was good reason for drama being her talent in the pageants.

Le it fly, Dave! We're all adults here. BTW, check out my new siggy, as soon as I read this quote I thought of the RDIs and IDIs here.

Our minds must think alike!

I actually say the same thing about Katie Couric in the book.

Q.Why was Jonbenet's case so publicised?

I suspect there are a plethora of reasons:

1. The death of a child is a truly horrific tragedy that affects our society more than the death of an adult.
2. In 1996, the media was expanding -- both in terms of television and internet thus a 'captivating' story such as this gained traction. People online were talking about it. Cable news stations were talking about.
3. The unique circumstances of the case -- pageant queen of rich parents dies in own home on Christmas night.Beauty pageants are very American thus this 'sacred' institution is somehow linked to the death of a child and to America in a metaphorical/symbolic way.

Just some thoughts.
