The attorney, Anthony Cotton, said the results of the evaluation, which must be completed within 15 days, will be sealed.

“Anybody can see when you are representing an 11-year-old that just turned 12 the adult court system may not be the best place for them,” Cotton told reporters.

Sam Benedict, a public defender who represents Weier, also said juvenile court would be the best place for the case.

Weier’s father left the courthouse visibly shaken with his hand over his mouth and tears in his eyes and did not speak to reporters.

I think the Weier's lawyer has wisely advised them to say absolutely nothing to anyone from the get-go.

The story has drawn international news media attention. A judge on Tuesday ordered that news media not show the defendants' faces when they appear despite the case being in adult court.

BBM Mary Bell is a fascinating case for that time. She was an extremely abused child. Even in this time... that child was brutalized. I do NOT look at Mary Bell's crimes lightly. Trust me!

However, I do not know enough about these girls to even THINK they suffered as Mary Bell did as a child.

There's been other cases of child murderer duos where there's no visible sign of the kind of horrific abuse Mary Bell suffered. In those cases it's pretty clear that it was folie-a-deux, a 'perfect storm' as someone put it here, of two kids feeding off each other's negative thoughts and fantasies.

In fact, many forensic psychs and other experts are speculating that this is exactly what happened, and expressing doubt that either girl would have ever committed such an atrocious act without the other one. There's links to such comments upthread.

I am actually inclined at this stage to look at AW as the major protagonist for the plan, as she was the "outsider" who joined the friendship trio late, and she is also the one who got MG into the whole Slenderman thing.

I honestly don't see much of a difference between 11 yrs 364 days and 12 yrs. It's like stores marking goods up at $19.99 - seems so much cheaper than $20, right? It's really not though 19.99 is as close to $20 as makes no difference. It's a good strategy on the part of the attorney, of course, to make her seem as young and childlike as possible because the whole being-tried-as-an-adult thing - something I find bizarre in the extreme btw. No matter what label the court puts on them for legal purposes these two perps ARE children, that's what a jury is gonna see if they plead not guilty and no amount of legal goobledegook can change that.

Just turned 12 makes me very conscious of the fact that the LAW would be viewing her differently and handling her differently if she had committed these acts just day s prior to when she did.

Granted a day is not a hug difference developmentally for a child. But in the eyes of the law and how she would be charged, that day is critical.

It sure is critical, I know someone that got caught with drugs the day before they turned 18. As a juvenile there was no charge but that did not stop the cop from getting in her face and saying how he wished she was eighteen so she could be charged. idk They have dates and ages set for a reason and yet it seems that there will be those that try to weasel though the crack. I don't see either one of these girls getting out for a very long time. jmo

Through my own, and others research, it seems like MGs mother and father (and MG herself) might be into satanism.

With that in mind, the attempted murder motive might have been some kind of ritualistic celebration o´f MGs self.

Not saying this is the case, however I believe it should be concidered a possibility.

The girls planned the murder and it was supposed to occur at MG's birthday sleepover. They changed their plans and attempted to kill the victim the next day after they woke up and went to the park.

Satanism? What would make you come to that conclusion? An interest in gothlike material does not make you a Satanist or violent.

It wouldn't have mattered. In here state, it's anyone over TEN committing a murder is tried as an adult.

Hey, come on let's be honest, who hasn't dabbled in a little satanism here and there I read the satanic bible when I was a kid, it's actually not all blood sacrifices and howling at the moon, the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth are actually somewhat sensible:

2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.

Anyway in this case I very much doubt it .. there is a huge difference between Satanism and loving a halloween and enjoying some of the goth arts .. Satanism is just so 80's for the generation coming up now.
