My .02 is that both girls should be tried as adults.
They stabbed their victim over and over, and left her to die !
And I do not doubt they knew right from wrong.

I absolutely agree with you.

When I first heard of this case my mind immediately went back to my 16 year old self living in the area this murder I'm attaching below. He was charged as an adult and given life in prison and although he goes thru the appeal process has been denied. Sometimes people are born warped, they know right from wrong but honestly don't care. These girls imo are completely guilty of premeditated attempted murder and are warped. They should be charged as adults for planning and executing an attempted murder.

BEAUTIFUL GIRL INSIDE AND OUT!! She is a shining star in life.
Those two other girls could be more opposite.

Payton, meanwhile, is now enjoying life, taking advanced placement classes at school and has even gone on a class trip to Canada with her French club, a family spokesman told WCVB Monday.

For those who have HBO, they have a new documentary on this case- "Beware the Slenderman"

Really good documentary on HBO. I was under the impression previously that Geyser was more of a leader in the attack, probably because she carried out the actual stabbing and Weir shows emotion in interviews whereas Geyser does not.
This documentary turned that theory on its head. Geyser is schizophrenic and has shown signs of this since aged three, her dad also has this illness. She genuinely believed Slenderman was following her and that is why she carried out this attack. Weir on the other hand doesn't have such a serious illness, she just doesn't know fact from fiction. One of the interesting parts in the documentary was when they interviewed Weir's childhood friend and she said that she thinks Weir might have done this for attention because she has no friends. Morgan was Anissa's first real friend and I think Anissa wanted to impress her, first by telling her about Slenderman and then telling her they had to kill somebody to please him.
The documentary was a good insight into two girls who had the misfortune of becoming friends as it was just a recipe for disaster that no one could have saw coming.

Watching this documentary, it really struck me just how young and out of touch with reality these girls were. Geyser is obviously mentally ill - she has a very flat affect and seemed to feel no remorse. Weir was a loner with an overactive imagination who immersed herself in the internet. This is just such a tragic case all the way around. All 3 girls were so very young.

The one good thing in this cruel & awful story is that the victim is alive and she looks healthy. We don't get many of these.

sorry if this has already been mentioned but just came across an article which says Morgan Geyser is now in a mental health facility receiving treatment.

This is so comforting to know. They said in the documentary that she was previously alone in a windowless cell for most of the day. No one deserves that, especially a schizophrenic child

Agreed. I work with adults with schizophrenia. Her flat affect is a really big tell

Judge allows confessions in Slender Man stabbing case, rejects outside jury request
Bruce Vielmetti , Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Published 10:07 a.m. CT Feb. 13, 2017 | Updated 23 hours ago

WAUKESHA - A judge ruled Monday that confessions made to police will be admissible against one of the two girls charged with trying to kill their sixth-grade classmate to please the fictional character Slender Man in 2014.

Announcing his decision from the bench, Bohren said . . . Geyser understood and knowingly made incriminating statements.

Circuit Judge Michael Bohren also said that jurors from Waukesha County will hear the case when it finally goes to trial, now set for October — 3 1/2 years after the crime.

(. . .) A hearing on the same motions from Weier — to bar use of her statements and for a non-Waukesha County jury — is scheduled for next week, though a different outcome is not expected.

I wonder if a local jury will be more or less compassionate trying juveniles as adults or if it would actually make any difference in that respect.

I know it wouldn't make any difference to me. If I leaned any way it would probably to be harder on youth...too many years left to repeat

Slenderman stabbing: Anissa Weier to be tried in Waukesha Co., initial confession allowed
"On Monday afternoon, a Waukesha County judge denied that motion saying Weier understood her rights.

"The interview was voluntary. The statements were voluntary. It was not in a coercive or police conduct situation," said Judge Michael Bohren.

Also discussed, a motion to find jurors outside of Waukesha County. Weier's attorney noted this case has been widely publicized. But the judge ruled a fair trial could be had in Waukesha."
...
"Weier's trial is scheduled to begin on September 11th -- and is expected to last about two weeks.

Morgan Geyser, also charged in this case, will go to trial in October."

Just today I watched the documentary Beware the Slenderman, I have not yet read through these threads, but it's so fascinating. I am curious where the case stands now, and will read through starting from the first thread 3 years ago. I hope the girls have started to heal, it was really a horrific story.
