WI - 35W bridge in Minneapolis collapses!

i'm not 100% sure but i think they still have about fifty cars underwater they haven't been able to search yet. don't quote me on that. if that's true. it's going to be very tragic when i hear the news tomorrow morning. not even sure if they can even get to these cars tonight.

Hey Misty, are you staying up late to watch this, like me?

Nice to have someone to talk with.

This is such a terrible tragedy...my thoughts and prayers to all involved.

9 fead, 60 injured, 20 missing.

We walked in the house and turned on the TV at about 9 pm MT. Unbelievable. I've been tuned into Fox ever since. This is tragic. It's 11:30 MT now and I'm still watching.

Aside to Dingo: I loved my taste of Vegemite I had in Denver at the Down Under Saddle Company. Yummy.

It might take days to get a total death count on this. They have to remove all the cars from the river, under the piles of rubble, in between the piles of twisted metal, then go back to look for others who may have been outside of vehicles or tried to swim out...but didn't make it. There could be even more they have not anticipated. The toll is going to be horrendous. If you look at other disasters, the majority of those found alive are found within the first few hours then it diminishes drastically after that. Rescues come sporadically, but few and far between after this many hours already.

It is estimated by people on the bridge there were at least 100 plus cars on the bridge at that point. There were also the construction workers in trucks, on foot, etc. People walked and rode bikes underneath the bridge, too. Most of those cars held more than one person as they were headed to the ballgame. I heard one witness say they saw someone (I think it was a rescue worker) walk by a vehicle with seven deceased inside and just had to keep going to people they could save. The outcome of this tragedy is far from over and we have to understand we won't be getting much good news from here on out. <sigh>

MSNBC seems to have the best coverage of all the national outlets. The better witnesses, ect.
Also you might want to check out WCCO coverage on thier site

MSNBC just did a tease that they have new info coming up after the commercial.

They believe there is more cars in the water then first thought, and 20 more families have arrived at the holding area.

My husband and I have been watching and discussing this all night.

This is incredibly tragic and hope the death count does not go higher...

Stopped rescue, now in recovery. Looking for bodies.

Local stations will have the most coverage. Then the networks pick up what they think the national audiance would like. So try WCCO or one of the other stations or newspapers. I know that every reporter from the stations and newspapers are out there right now and don't plan to leave until the day shift comes in. The Today Show, The Early Show, And Good Morning America all have producers out working tonight.

I just checked out WCCO - the images are just awful.
