I'm totally lost as for directions. I originally thought the highway ran E to W!The way I saw the video, is that, what I considered to be the North end, fell first, but that depends if I have North right.

That's great cheko1; thanks, now if I only knew where Washington Street is.Buzz the South end of the bridge is Washington St.....
I'm not sure what the North end is.
Remember that odd numbered Interstates run north-southI'm totally lost as for directions. I originally thought the highway ran E to W!
I just Googled a map of Minneapolis, and Washington St. is on the side where downtown & the Metrodome is. It's still confusing if you look at the map because Washington St. runs N/S and the highway 35W still looks like it runs somewhat E/W.That's great cheko1; thanks, now if I only knew where Washington Street is.

Even numbered Interstates run east west.
It's the only way I can keep my directions straight, particularly if I am giving the directions. If I know the number of the Interstate then I know if it runs E-W or N-S. It can be very helpful.thanks![]()
Looking at the map, I'm still confused. I thought the RR tracks were much closer to the river. It's the only way I can keep my directions straight, particularly if I am giving the directions. If I know the number of the Interstate then I know if it runs E-W or N-S. It can be very helpful.
I see what you mean..that is confusing.Looking at the map, I'm still confused. I thought the RR tracks were much closer to the river.

North?where are the RR tracks, North, or South, end??
I35 goes East and West, but not when it crosses the river JBeanya; then it is going from South-Southwest to North-NortheastI see what you mean..that is confusing.
Plus I also see these Interstates labeled as I35W and I35E so I am equally confused.
They're on the top right of the map, so I'd think that's E or NE? Wouldn't the top of the map be North?Found the RR tracks on the satellite photo.
I thought the bridge failed on the North end
I think that would be correct, but more like NE, imo. I'll look at a satellite too to get a better idea of how close they are to the water. The regular map makes it look like several blocks between the tracks and the river unless there's another set of tracks not on the map.Found the RR tracks on the satellite photo.
I thought the bridge failed on the North end
It's deceiving because the bridge runs a ways inland before it has an exit. There were a few sections that came down on the North shore.I think that would be correct, but more like NE, imo. Hi Buzz. I am talking about the "official" direction. I35 is North- SouthI35 goes East and West, but not when it crosses the river JBeanya; then it is going from South-Southwest to North-Northeast
I looked at the satellite view and the RR tracks that I saw on the map can't be where the freight train was that got crushed under the bridge. They're just too far from the river, so there must be another track. I could get a better idea if I knew which direction the semi-truck & bus were headed ~ toward downtown or away from there? It's deceiving because the bridge runs a ways inland before it has an exit. There were a few sections that came down on the North shore.
