WI WI - Adam Mills, 30, Milton, 27 May 2015

Wonder if this could be Adam. It appears to be about 7 miles from where he was last seen in the 100 block of E. Madison Ave. (MOO)

October 16, 2024

The sheriff's office and the Dane County Medical Examiner's Office are investigating the human remains found in the area of 8622 N. Pine Road. Sheriff's deputies and a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Warden were dispatched to the area around 9:37 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 13.

I would like to see this resolved. What a weird statement though. Why would Dane county get involved? It's in Rock County. Anyway, much more likely he walked the 7 miles and died of exposure in the woods than the creepy doctor killing him. Either way, I guess we'll see.

It looks like just the Dane County Medical Examiners office (not Dane County Sheriff’s).Perhaps Rock County contracts with them due to their proximity.

Thanks, I wish I knew all that interconnected stuff!

Dane county manages the Rock County ME office, under contract.

I followed up on this with the sheriff to see if Adam is the doe found last year in the area. Haven’t heard back yet. But notably the find Adam mills Facebook group is no longer there.

Ok update to who is in control of this case. I contacted Milton PD, and they informed me that this [the body found, not Adam Mills missing] is a township of Milton case, so I believe the sheriff of Rock County therefore controls. I contacted the sheriff and will let you know if I get an answer.

Got word back, still in dna testing. I just heard from another LEO that NamUs has a year backlog for DNA. Which is odd because I didn’t know NamUs did the testing. I’m confused. Maybe they subcontract it out. Anyway, Milton pd has the Adam mills case, rock county sheriff has the Milton remains case.

This is utterly frustrating because when I contacted Town of Milton, they acted as if they hadn't heard of the remains and actually had to check into it. The remains are under Rock County sheriff but I can't get a case number for it. Town of Milton has Adam's case, the remains are Rock County Sheriff, but nobody there answers me. So I contacted the journalist of this article: Medical examiner: Remains found in Milton area are human and asked if they could get more information and what the situation was. I asked for help just in case it seems the two organizations aren't communicating, since Rock isn't saying anything.

I have contacted the Dane County ME asking for a case number for the remains. I'm going to keep on these cases, despite my losing hope.

I advise calling the Rock County Sheriffs Dept, asking for the Captain by name (his name is on their website). Then ask him which Sargent has Adams case, and for that’s Sargents direct line. Then call that Sargent and have the convo. Just say you are a cold case advocate updating if the UID has been looked into and who is the contact for the UID if Rock County has it.
I’ve had good results when I get to the Sargent level.

I'm very uncomfortable with calling, even calling the pizza guy! I did email the ME though and they usually get back to me.
