Aaron Schaffhausen told several friends he'd have no problem killing his family, according to opening statements by the prosecutor.

it's a video of Officer Golden trying to get AS to acknowledge that he understands his Miranda rights and with AS not talking at all for 20 minutes so far, just sitting in the booking room like a statue. Will not answer any questions.

So far it's just been watching the video of his first interview. Hours of video. Only response from him so far is to shake his head no slightly to an EMT checking his vitals. Officer trying to interview is very nice, very gentle and kind. AS just sits there silent, not moving, except a few times puts his head down on the desk when the officer leaves for a few minutes. Officer can't even get through reading him his rights because he won't even shake or nod his head except that one time for the EMT.

Officer at one point says to him that he said "Let's go" when he pulled up to the police station. That makes me think AS was lucid, and that this seeming catatonia is deliberate.

Everything I've read tells me this was premeditated.

Just as I thought. He's suddenly fine. Talking, moving, complaining that his hands are numb from the handcuffs. SMH

Officer asked him if they need to be looking for anybody else, and he shook his head no. Then he suddenly was fine. Unbelievable.

I had to step away for a bit, but after they fixed his handcuffs, he went silent again, and now it looks like he's still being silent. Officer is no longer being as gentle. Speaking strongly.

ETA Well as soon as I posted that, AS started talking. Saying some of the officers were in the house and have blood on their shorts too. Ugg. He knows exactly what he did. He's lucid. Not insane. My opinion.

ETA court on 45 minute lunch break. Should be back in about 10 minutes.

Judge says the girls' mother can be neither photographed nor audio recorded. They're still discussing this. Not yet final. She's considered a victim and that's why this is an issue.

The officer who interviewed AS in the prior interview is called to the stand
