The Oregon doe was not James Egan:

Remains that were found in Josephine County in 1978 have been identified as a missing Montana man, according to Oregon State Police.

Investigators contacted the family, who confirmed their brother, Mark Smith, born Oct. 4, 1954, had been missing since 1974.

Spoke to the police on this, he is no longer missing, but is deceased, and the remains were not the San Francisco doe. They wouldn’t say more. Very sad I didn’t help but at least his family has closure.

I had came back to this thread as I thought of FOIA'ing in regards to it. Seeing it's been "solved" to some level, I wonder if it's simply not been annouced yet. Sometimes individuals are identified as a doe but it's not made public for months.
