She went missing in her pyjamas? In January?

I never like hearing that. :(

A missing person alert was issued after a 17-year-old teenager, Daniela Itzel Velazquez, went missing at 10:30 p.m. Saturday from her village of Wrightstown home, the Brown County Sheriff's Office said.

Deputies say she is an endangered person and "law enforcement and family have concerns for her safety," according to the alert.

She is 5-foot-3 with brown hair and eyes. She was last seen on foot near Blake Road and State 96 in the town of Wrightstown, wearing red and white pajama pants and a gray and black sweatshirt.

Anyone with information on Velazquez's whereabouts should call the Brown County Sheriff's Office at 920-391-7450, option 8 or Sergeant Matthew Omdahl at 920-448-4235.

Oh I'm so sad for this poor girl. @Unalienable Rights article has more updated info now - it looks like she wasn't on foot leaving home after all? Totally different story now!

"The mother of the 17-year-old reported her missing at 2:41 Sunday afternoon. Just 10 minutes earlier, a Wisconsin State trooper found her vehicle in a ditch on Black Road, south of Highway 96. Shoes and Velazquez’s phone were found outside the car, and the keys and a wallet were found inside.

The road had not been plowed and it appeared the car had drifted a few feet off the roadway, Capt. David Poteat said. Footprints were erased by blowing snow.

A search began on foot, and the sheriff’s office had a drone in the air before 4:30. Monday, a police K9 found a piece of clothing east of the car, and the search focused on that area, covering 37 acres, including drone searches, before the body was found on Tuesday.

The body was found with the arms clutched to the chest, as a person would do to keep warm.

Authorities believe at this time, pending an autopsy, that she died of hypothermia.

“She was, she was definitely not dressed for the weather, and being outside in conditions much like they are today for any extended period of time is going to result in fatality in a short period of time,” Poteat said.

Poteat could only theorize that she left her shoes because they were full of snow after trying to get the car back on the road, and removed clothing as hypothermia set in, a condition known as paradoxical undressing.

They don’t believe foul play was involved in the death.

Poteat also said deputies didn’t find any indication of a passenger in the car."

So damn sad. I'm guessing she didn't have a phone to call for help? Or maybe she got concussed and disoriented in the accident, and wandered off.

Poor kid, she was just starting out. A car. A job. I bet she was proud as punch of the adult responsibility of both. Dreaming of the future, of bigger and better things.

Sleep well, Daniela.

Says her phone was found outside her car. Stay with your car, People.
