A Milwaukee woman and her Brookfield boyfriend have been charged after they allegedly engaged in a pattern of abuse and neglect that saw the daughter forced to do jumping jacks and left her sleep deprived and reportedly saw the mother say she wished her daughter would die.
The Freeman isn’t naming the parties to protect the identity of the 12-year-old alleged victim. But the mother, 34, was charged Friday with chronic child neglect causing emotional damage, repeated acts of child physical abuse with a high probability of great bodily harm, failing to prevent bodily harm to a child, failing to prevent mental harm to a child. The man, 35, was charged with chronic child neglect causing emotional damage, physical abuse with a high probability of great bodily harm, and causing mental harm to a child. The mother was ordered held on $25,000 cash bond and told to have no contact with the child or her boyfriend. The boyfriend had an arrest warrant issued seeking to have him held on $100,000 cash bond.
The complaint in the case said the girl went to a Kwik Trip on Watertown Road last Sunday not wearing shoes or a coat, telling a customer she’d been hit at home and could not get back. A police officer noted bald spots on her head where hair appeared to be missing, and bruising to most portions of her head and face. The girl reported she’d been hit in the head with a belt buckle; an examination found a 2-inch laceration to her scalp, a cut mid-chest below the throat, bruising from the left armpit to the elbow, and bruising to her left hip and lower back, and she appeared malnourished, the complaint said. The girl reported the boyfriend makes her do jumping jacks, and when she doesn’t do them long enough or good enough, he punches her and hits her with a belt; at times, the mother also hits her, the complaint said. She said when she asked her mother for water, her mother refused and stated, "I hope you die," the complaint said.
*More…but I just can’t. I’m so mad and sad.
