WI - Grant Co, WhtMale Adult, Found in "heavily wooded area", Sept. '24

An unidentified, deceased subject was found in a heavily wooded area on Monday, September 2nd, 2024 in Platteville, Wisconsin, just off of Milwaukee street.

Officers say that the initial autopsy “did not reveal any outward signs of trauma or information which would point to an obvious cause of death,” and “further testing will be done to try and determine the potential cause of death.”

It was, however, revealed that the remains reportedly belonged to an adult, white male, but due to the conditions that the remains were in, officers say that it might be near impossible to determine the cause of death with absolute certainty.

Investigation Update: The Platteville Police Department is continuing the investigation regarding the human remains located in a heavily wooded area west of Milwaukee Street on Monday, September 2nd. An initial autopsy has been completed, which did not reveal any outward signs of trauma or information which would point to an obvious cause of death. Further testing will be done to assist with the determination of the potential cause of death. The condition of the remains at the time of their recovery may make it impossible to determine the cause of death with absolute certainty.
Currently, we can share that the remains are those of an adult, white male. The circumstances around the death, evidence collected at the scene, and the location of the remains indicate that this is an isolated incident and there is no ongoing threat or danger to the community.
We will continue to update the public on the status of this investigation when more information becomes available.

Well, not sure why the prior articles were never updated, but apparently the man was identified as 43-year-old Derek Eastlick.

Investigation Update:
Derek A. Eastlick, age 43, who most recently resided in Waupaca, WI, was found deceased in a wooded area of Platteville on Monday, September 2nd. Eastlick’s body was located by two people as they were walking near a trail.
The cause of death for Eastlick and the circumstances of why he was in the area where his body was found are unknown at this time. Eastlick's last contact with Platteville Police Officers was on the evening of Friday, August 16th when he fled on foot from the scene of a traffic stop in Platteville. Eastlick was a passenger in a vehicle which had been stopped for an equipment violation. At the time, Eastlick had a valid Department of Corrections warrant for his arrest. Officers attempted to apprehend Eastlick, but he evaded them and he was not located.
The Platteville Police Department is attempting to establish a timeline of who he may have interacted with and where he was from August 16th to the time he was found on September 2nd. Anyone with information related to this investigation is asked to contact the Platteville PD at 608-348-2313.
