This is so helpful! Thank you so much! I wish I would have known about this site sooner. I will be looking in to all of this.
He has never been violent to others but definitely a danger to himself without necessarily presenting that way which made it hard. My bet is that he jumped off a bridge in Beloit and hurt his hip (his truck was found on a bridge and his dog was found nearby - I rescued the dog). I'm not aware of any friends that he would be staying with - the friends I'm aware of are north on Tomahawk and have no information. He was last seen in Portage after the ambulance trip to Tomahawk.
I think you're right - he's not going to make it very far so I'll focus on the Portage area. Potentially, he was heading my way since he has familiarity in Milwaukee.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
If he was heading for Milwaukee, the Amtrak Empire Builder route east bound from Portage to MKE is relatively short.

Or, taking the Empire Builder route westward could get him to Portland, OR and then a transfer to the Coast Starlight route would go south through California. Empire Builder goes through northern Montana along the way, too.

Was he last seen in the city of Portage? Or somewhere in Portage County?

The city of Portage is actually down in Columbia County, which can make things a little confusing. Portage County is further north and it’s largest city would be Stevens Point.

Portage also has Greyhound and Amtrak stations if he was looking for transportation.
He was last seen in Potage County - that’s where his CCAP cases were. Not the City of Portage. But I’m thinking there’s cities in Potage County that have Amtrak and Greyhound? Not sure

Good question - it was Portage County, per CCAP cases.

Gotcha. If it had been the city of Portage, then the Amtrak is one of the only reasons people go there (it’s very small).

Portage County doesn’t have an Amtrak station. If he ended up by the city of Stevens Point, that area does have more resources for folks in need of housing/shelter and other supports.

If it were me, I would check homeless shelters in point and any other type places first, then get the case file from police and see where it could lead.

I actually think he was last seen in Marquette County. He did retail theft there on 8/22/2021.
The Portage Co charges were prior to that. I wonder if he made it as far as Madison or Milwaukee.

According to his sister in this thread he was last seen after the ambulance dropped him off and/or after he was breaking into parks in portage county. I don’t think he hade it far from the last location with injuries, mental illness and no car.

I was thinking maybe she didn’t realize there were charges in Marquette County after the Portage County ones.

This reminds me that, it’s a real thing that when the rural counties have a homeless person doing petty crimes, if that person asks to be dropped off in the next county closer to their destination, the sheriffs dept will do that sometimes. On the sly a bit, in order to get them out of their rural county that doesn’t have many resources for homeless. So it’s very possible he could have gotten a ride from them or from just a random person too.

I wonder if he was jailed up there and if they noted his discharging info.

Good point. If I were sister at this point I’d contact every law enforcement he was in touch with and request all documentation.

Hi again, I have a question that I don't know who to ask so I thought I'd start with this group since it's so resourceful.

Jason unfriended me on the Facebook several years before he went missing. I sent him a friend request after he went missing and send messages occasionally in case he sees them. Yesterday, that friend request was accepted! Of course, I sent another message yesterday but they all sit at 'sent' and not 'delivered' or 'read'. His activity on Facebook ends when he went into crisis in 2021.

Do you think the acceptance of this friend request was just a glitch and is there any way I can confirm this? It sounds like if someone perhaps activated his old phone or laptop, they could have accepted it and I suppose someone could have hacked in to his account (although his email is no longer active) and I believe this is probably more likely. Just not sure what to do with this information. TIA!

Dj, that sounds suspicious. I would shoot an email to the case detective just mentioning it. They may have instructions for you.

This might also be discussed with an attorney (possibly elder law because they do these things often) about how you can have him declared incompetent (given his last behavior) and become guardian of the estate so you have legal access to his email, cell phone records, and everything else.
