That is my guess. The banks probably didn’t change locks or anything yet since it’s such a long process.

They can’t until they have the final judgment - and even then the bank may have to bring an eviction action !

Massguy - at first I thought that too - but early October there was a mass press release @ the short murders....Jennifer short's body was found in October (crime occurred august 15)...

I figured the perp may have read @ it...and gotten a 'bright idea'...

How many times does Fitzgerald have to repeat it that Jayme has no online activity with the suspect?

He was unknown to all three victims.

The FBI experts know to look at all online activites including gaming sites.

The police never publically state a child has been sexually assaulted even if true.

Imo Jayme had no involvement at all with the monster who tried to destroy her life.

To speculate is so unfair to me when Fitzgerald has repeatedly said she didnt.

It is such a hard crime to even think about a 21 year old could for whatever reason develop a fixation on a 13 year old and plan such a brazen targeted crime. I wonder if one of the profiles developed by the FBI (as I recall there were various ones based on the target) was aligned with this suspect like Patterson.

I don’t think he will ever get out of prison, no matter his background. He murdered two people and kidnapped another. Even with reduced sentence, he will still be in there for life IMO

Don't you think he should have to pay for all of his crimes though? I do. I think it is worse to not charge him with everything he *might* have done. He should have to be held accountable for all of it and it will come in to play because....motive.

They may have developed an accurate profile, but that’s by no means a sure thing.

There isn’t a lot of precedent for this type of thing, so it’s difficult to draw comparisons.

Even with an accurate profile, there would be many people who would fit the description.

And obviously, it didn’t help capture him.

Jayme did that on her own.

OMG me too haha. I was sitting at the table with my wife and howled as well. She gave me a strange look and I was surprised at my own reaction too. Not that I am excited in any way that they died this way of course but this is my first time on WS Jayme being what brought me here. Feels good in a way to know that after time and reading through all the threads you can make a good educated guess at what little we had and it be correct. This is an awesome site and will prob remain for future, in a small way everyone on here seems like family having one common goal. Hope that's not to corny

Mortgage was $60,000 in 2012, so he refinanced or took an equity loan at that point, since he was in the house longer than that. It’s flagged as loan to value being more than 50%. Conventional loan. It’s assessed for taxes at $79,800 and bank took it for $87,500 it looks like. Not sure what liens or back taxes may also be on the house though, assuming that’s in the $87,500

He may have had to buy spouse out in a divorce action depends on if WI is community property and who was on the deed at purchase

It’s still not clear what he was heading off for, IMO. It might have been active military duty... it could have been some kind of treatment program. Not sure.

Or he was only visiting mom and then leaving to go home.

Seriously. I'm always shocked when crimes this brutal and "sophisticated" are committed by people so young. Mind boggling.

Gordon wi is almost quaint bygone era cabins right ... I’m guessing if you want restaurant or anything at all u go to Duluth or Barron .... and maybe perp just drove by closs home quite a bit...

Wait.....what?? There are many people and families that live in small rural communities. Most have schools, healthcare, LE, grocery stores, convenience stores, etc,. either in town or a town close by.

His head is shaved in this photo. Le (And article) say he shaved it prior to committing the crime in order to reduce his presence / evidence at the crime scene. So is this photo taken after he took her? Creeps me out thinking about it. Wondering aloud.

ETA Never mind...just read a post that he shaved before going to boot camp. Though I don't remember reading that he did, in fact, go to boot camp.

Goodness… Please don’t take this the wrong way! I don’t think people realize what a high traffic application Discord is. Literally every child in my life uses it and uses it constantly, I’m talking 24 seven. All I’m saying is that it is one of the easiest ways for strangers to become involved in a young person’s life. It doesn’t mean that they ever interacted with a stranger (tho almost inevitably they do), nor that Jayme used it. But I will just about guarantee you that many children in her life use it; I’m not saying it absolutely relates to Jake, but it should be considered until we know more. If nothing else, keep it in mind for future investigations. We’re all on the same team here, and I am grateful for your observations!

I like the way you think. There are those who will attack you but this thing isn't over by a long shot. There may be lots of people with egg on their face before this plays out.
