JMO, but it's kind of a mixed message Jayme's aunt is giving the media- closing the curtains to keep the media out, but on the other hand, giving the media frequent updates, including about how Jayme is allegedly feeling (!), beginning with that photo taken with Jayme before she had even left the hospital (!).
I think they are doing that purposely - to keep in control. If they didn't provide any info or any photos, the family would be completely hounded. If they give the media something, I think it helps keep them away. JMO

Jayme and her family have the right to release what details and photos they want to release when they want to. She absolutely deserves her privacy. That doesn't mean Jayme and her family can't update the public with a happy photo showing her reunited with her dog and aunt. Sharing a few photos doesn't mean she has to allow every second of her recovery and reunion with her family to be documented by the press through a window. It is not an either/or thing where Jayme's family has to either keep the blinds open at all times or go totally silent and not give any updates. They are controlling what they what to share and when and good for them. I see a loving family who is overwhelmingly happy that Jayme is alive and they want to share that joy with the world. Sharing a few photos might also bring a sense of normalcy to Jayme since she grew up with social media and before this all happened she had a facebook page of her own where she could share things. For all we know maybe she asked to share some happy photos with the people who spent months praying for her and searching for her. I don't think it is appropriate to criticize the family. MOO.

What time is JP's court appearance?

I would imagine she is being inundated with media requests and she is trying to oblige while at the same time keeping private

I agree. Can't imagine what it's like to be an ordinary person, especially living in a largely rural area, and suddenly having to deal with a yard full of persistent, insatiable media peeps.

What seems unusual in this situation, though, is that the family doesn't have a spokesperson to handle the media's inquiries. Having her aunt serve that role doesn't provide very much distance for Jayme from the media. JMO.

This board is full of cases where some male saw a child or a woman he did not know and took the opportunity to abduct that person. Patterson may have longed planned to abduct someone, but he was waiting for the right combination of girl and opportunity. A chance to act out a fantasy. And his idea of "opportunity" may be different from ours, as he is no doubt a psychopath.

Was there running water in the house? Even if so, perhaps not hot running water? How "dirty" was she, exactly, anyway? Perhaps she had to crawl through a dirty area to escape?

It was also reported that she looked skinny, but IMO, she doesn't look skinny in post-escape photos. Her hair being matted? Hers is long and likely thick. In my experience having that kind of hair, a couple days of not diligently brushing results in at least some matting.

It's been reported she was wearing "slippers" and that she was wearing too big shoes, and that she was wearing "tennis shoes." Maybe her own shoes weren't in the room from which she escaped, and she put on whatever was closest by and quickest?

She wasn't wearing a coat, but one of the photos from the cabin shows a line of coats hung up on pegs. Perhaps she didn't go through that mudroom on her way out (where shoes/boots are often kept as well)?

In short- there isn't enough info yet to do anything but guess at the conditions she endured for those 3 months....
The neighbors who rescued her commented that she may not have bathed at all during captivity, so I’m guessing she was pretty dirty. One also described her hair as almost one big dreadlock. I’m guessing she appeared to be thinner because of the oversized sweat shirt she wore.

Please tell me if I’m wrong and sorry if this has been discussed, but I wonder about how they were able to get these photos, there’s a quote that says some were taken by the Daily Mail, there are also a few other tabloid sites to note here ( NYP), my point is these photos don’t have crime scene markers on them, things that normally would be collected appear still at the residence, etc...this tells me these photos were taken pretty early on but how the heck did they get in there? They would not be allowed to be in there during an active crime scene, so I’m wondering if someone who did have the authority to be in there either:

a) took the photos themselves then sold them
b) allowed someone access to take the pictures
c) leaked official crime scene photos.

Please correct me if this is not a possibility.

I’ll never forget how quickly they got photos in AH’s case.

They pay big bucks for photos I assume.

There’s also a specific photo which the “camera” seems suspicious to me, I don’t want to comment further yet.

ETA:

From my notes it appears Julia Marsh of the NYP is listed under a photo re: the box, not linking it. This should NOT have been leaked, moo.

Don’t want to draw more attention to it but since it’s being discussed I just want to say Shame Shame to whoever took this photo and leaked it. Moo.

Personally I think one of JPs family members sold the photos.

I dont think anyone in LE did.

Just my personal opinion only.

Imo I don't see it as her giving the media updates. I think she is giving "us" updates. Those updates have to come through the media. Her family was/is well aware of the outpouring of emotion/support/concern coming from the entire world. I think it is incredibly "generous" of her aunt to put our minds more at ease that Jayme can smile. :)

I have wondered from the beginning if he had some kind of psychotic "white knight" syndrome. ie. In a delusional state he considered himself "rescuing" her by slaughtering the dragon and whisking the princess away. Naturally, the guy is 100% accountable for his actions and never deserves to be out from behind bars again, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was playing out some kind of crazy fantasy. Dangerous for sure, and I think he would have done it again in time.
The knight in shining armor is one idea. Another one I've been having is - if he has some Special Forces fantasy, maybe he considered the crime as a pillage operation. "To the victor belongs the spoils."

IDK, jmo

I can’t read this article without subscribing :(
For subscription issues, this works on my phone:
Press hyperlink with finger and hold until a menu pops ups, then tap on open incognito window. Usually works. For desktop access, I'm not sure; maybe access menu with right mouse click??

Yes, and they had to endure enough criticism and speculation throughout this case to begin with. I don't see a problem at all with them wanting to share their joy. Imo

There was a bed in the basement that some are wondering if that's where he kept her.
Yeah, I'm not sure (and Daily Mail article stated they are not sure either) that the room in the photos is where he kept her. It just looks like his sister's old room that turned into a junk room to me. JMO

I'm not sure anybody should tell this family what they can and can't do. I can't even begin to imagine what they have all went through. Additionally to even hint that they do not have JC's best interest as their primary concern just blows my mind. I pray none of us ever has to be in the position to make the choices that they are faced with! MOO

I agree. Besides, I have the choice or right to simply not look at pictures or comments they put out. But, I have loved the love in each of them.

But have any of the JP family been allowed into the house since Jayme escaped? Or do you mean the photos were taken sometime earlier? I do think some LE leak photos. I would also be interested to know, for the past 80+ days, if anyone else other than JP knew Jayme was in that house.

I totally agree.

I also predict there will be a statement sooner or later saying that it's time to return to regular life and please leave us alone to do that. I hope that the media at that time will feel satisfied with the info/photos already received and will move on.

I think the family is joyful and also so grateful for the support they received from the community and from the public in general. They are expressing that.

I do predict a retreat from the public eye....done on their own time. Good for them.
